"Why watch the sports channel when you could watch
CNN?"
- The Divine Comedy,
"Here Comes the Flood"

To begin a page like this by saying 'I'm not sure why I like this album so much' would seem silly to say the least, but... Maybe it has something to do with the intelligence of the lyrics in songs like "Life On Earth", or the (albeit somewhat obvious) humour of "National Express." |
Maybe it's the subtle diversity of musical styles that change from song to song - no other album I know of has a song about the end of the world ("Here comes the Flood") that sounds like it was composed by Stephen Sondheim! Maybe it's the intentions behind the album to "learn the lessons of history". | ![]() |

Maybe it's all of these. Whatever my reasons, I still love the album so thanks Ruth for introducing me to it. And if you want to learn more about it, or the group, try the official Divine Comedy site The Liberator |
