Welcome to my Trader's Room!  I am Mystinia Gypsywyynd, an Elven Trader of the 10th Circle of the Realm of Elanthia.  I am just beginning in this business, but I hope that the information that I have collected from some of the Elders of the Guild will be of help to my fellow Traders.  I have also included some personal observations and experiences in the hope that this will also be of some assistance.  Thank you for visiting!

Getting Started

So you've decided to become a Trader, eh?  First thing that needs to happen is for you to join our illustrious Guild by speaking with our Guild Leader, Imaar, in the Crossing Trader's Guild.  The Guild is located in the southwest part of the Crossing, northwest of Barana's Shipyard.  Once you have joined, I recommend that you train all your stats (Strength, Stamina, Discipline, Wisdom, Intelligence, Reflex, Agility and Charisma) to 10, using the 600 Time Development Points (TDPs) given to you when you roll up your Trader.  Your beginning stats will vary due to the race you choose and the luck of the roll.  Also, upon joining the Guild, you will be given a few skill ranks to get you started.   Because Traders need Evasion, I also recommend that you outfit yourself in some basic armor and get yourself a weapon.  Personally, I train Light Edged and Short Bow, but the decision is up to you.  However, I do strongly recommend that you train a ranged weapon.  Pay a visit to Tembeg's Armory and Milgrym's Weaponsmith to see what is offered.  Also, once you have joined, you need to obtain your Ledger. See the Commerce Minister and READ SIGN to obtain your ledger.  This is the most important document in a Trader's possession.   Your Ledger contains all the information about the contracts you have completed, contracts pending, caravan or pack animal rentals, fees you have not paid, and important NOTES for Traders.  DO NOT LOSE YOUR LEDGER.

In this business, it takes money to make money.  This might prove a bit daunting at first, but I have been told that one of the best ways is to collect sticks (by foraging primarily at the Northeast Gate) and selling them to Mags, the Stick Collector, who's establishment is located in the Bazaar just south of the Barbarian's Guild. You may also hunt and work your skinning as well.  Selling bundles will not only make you coin, it will give you Trading experience.  Once you begin actual trading, it will cost you to rent your pack animal or caravan, and also to pay Guild dues and assessed loading costs.  Be aware that in the beginning there will not be a whole lot of profit.  Keep the faith, keep running those contracts, and the profit will soon find it's way to your pouch. Also, at 1st circle you are immune from theft.  Don't get used to it.  You will not be allowed to stay at 1st circle.  Once you have 5 ranks of Trading, you cannot trade again until you circle.
