Trading: Our Bread and Butter
Pack animals (donkeys, mules, etc.) will cost you 120 copper kronars (1 silver, 20 copper kronars).
Caravans will cost you 400 copper (4 silver).
Request a contract from any Trade Minister at participating outposts, Trader Guilds or stables (ASK MINISTER FOR CONTRACT). The Minister will tell you how much your goods will cost you at wholesale price and add on Guild dues. This figure is always in coppers. These fees are paid to the Shipping Clerk, who is usually in the same room as the Minister (but not always!). Once you pay for cost of goods and Guild dues, GIVE your contract to the Shipping Clerk. He will assess you a loading fee (usually 50 copper for caravans and 20 copper for pack animals). Once this is paid, you may READ your contract. It will tell you the issuing Guild, the destination Guild, the merchandise you are delivering, when it is due at it's destination, and how much you can expect to be paid. Contracts may be read while they are still inside a container. The Ledger must be taken out to be read. At this point, depending on the weight of your merchandise, you will automatically be given either a pack animal or upgraded to a caravan. Your conveyance will be waiting outside. Depending on what you are given, the appropriate fee will be taken from you. You may also RENT CARAVAN from the get-go if you wish, no matter what the weight of your merchandise, and again the fee will be taken from you.
