![]() ISO 14000 is a series of standards edited by ISO ( the International Organization for Standardization) with the objective to standardize the voluntary implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in the various branches of human activity. Besides ISO 14000, EMAS (Eco Management and Auditing Scheme) Cordinated by European Community (EC) is devoted to EMS implementation too. In 1997 the British Standard BS7750, the first EMS standard, joined with ISO 14000 and today is designated as BSEN ISO 14001. There are little differences between these Standards. In a general sense, the EMAS is more stringent than ISO 14000 in aspects like environmental declaration, total inventory of environmental aspects related with the company activities. |
