Shell is
Ronnie & Ken's Cairn Terrier. She came to them on May 27, 1998 by way
of Potomac Cairn Terrier
Rescue. All that is known about her previous life is that she was
born in 1990 in Kansas (she's not in Kansas anymore) and her original owner
likes the beach so she named her Shell.
Shell is
a true Cairn Terrier: tough, playful, and tenacious. Don't be fooled by her
small stature; she is no yappy lap dog. She is definitely a big dog in a small
package. Meet
the Cairn Terrier.
Shell has inhalant allergies and Ken & Ronnie are in constant battle to keep her skin healthy. She gets an allergy shot every 3 weeks. Shell's diet is comprised of BARF (Bones and Raw Food). She really enjoys eating her raw meat and bones and her teeth are now very clean.
Shell has developed arthritis and occasionally receives acupuncture treatments to help her cope. So far she seems to be responding positively to her sessions.

Although she adores people, Shell is dog aggressive which means that she is afraid of other dogs and will attack. The only dogs she will tolerate are ones that she is carefully introduced to, like her housemate Malcolm. Shell likes to chase squirrels, but she lives to play with her toys and loves it when someone kicks leaves or snow for her to chase.
Shell's primary Veternarian is Dr. Davis at Adams Mill Vet Hospital in Great Falls, VA. Ken and Ronnie are very happy with the care and attention Shell has received there, and highly recommend Adams Mill.
