There are a lot of SICK FREAKIN PUPPIES out there who just wanna see viscerial gore and disgusting scene after disgusting scene, and they don't even care if they understand the dialogue or not...
Seeing this kinda attitude does my heart good....
When I used to trade a lot, one of the most requested flicks on my Trade List was GUINEA PIG: MERMAID IN A MANHOLE!!! Actually I'm gonna review the whole GUINEA PIG series!!!

For those of you unfamiliar, GUINEA PIG is a series of short movies made from those sick basterds in Japan filled with some of the most realistic and brutal (as well as bizzare) torture gore and mayhem ever set to video. They were not in English, but the plot is only secondary anyway...and now that they are finally on DVD you can get them with subtitles!

The titles of these flicks are:

Devil's Experiment
Flower of Flesh and Blood
Mermaid In A Manhole
He Never Dies
Devil Doctor Woman
Android of Notre Dame
Lucky Sky Diamond

The first two, FLOWERS and DEVIL'S EXPERIMENT deal with the torture and dismemberment of women. Both are brutally graphic and realistic and neither really as any plot.
MERMAID has more of a story, all though my Japanese is rather bad (one might say all most non-existance). This dude finds a Mermaid in a sewer so he takes it home and puts it in the bathtub. It helps him with his art but soon starts to rot and become infested with worms and puss and gets all gross and disgusting...
HE NEVER DIES is about a guy who tries to kill himself but finds he can't die, no matter how hard he tries, and try hard he does.
DEVIL DOCTOR WOMAN is about a transvestite with some sort of game show where people do all sorts of fucked up shit with guts and stuff.
ANDROID OF NOTRE DAME is a Frankenstien sort of thing with this Japanese Dwarf trying to bring his girlfriend back to life by insterting various machine parts into her body...
LUCKY SKY DIAMOND is about a couple harvesting ADRENOCHROME from a female victim. For those who don't know, ADRENOCHROME is the greatest drug known to man, made from the endorphines taken directly from the brain of someone who is totally high on other drugs. Actually this one is NOT really part of the Guinea Pig series, but all us round-eyes didn't know the difference so many people consider it a Guinea Pig movie.


These movies are so disturbingly brutal that they were not widely released, or even passed many censor boards, when they were on video. The controversy they arroused has surrounded them in myth and urban legend. These are some GUINEA PIG tales I've heard. Truth or Not, you decide.

The most famous story I've heard concerns actor Charlie Sheen. Apparently he got his hands on FLOWERS OF FLESH AND BLOOD, and thought it was a totally real snuff film. It is a pretty realistic flick, but still. But anyway, he gets the FBI in on it and stirs up all kinds of shit and gets it banned.

I heard another story of this serial killer in Japan who, after the movies came out, committed a series of killings emulating the movies. When the police caught him, they found a huge collection of horror films in his house and video tapes he made of himself doing the killings, copying from what he saw in the GUINEA PIG movies as well as the Friday the 13th and Halloween series. This lead to the supposed banning of the movies in Japan.

I've heard that HARD COPY and/or 20/20 did expose's on the Guinea Pig series. If anyone out there might have taped this, I'd trade or buy it bigtime!!!!

Now thanks to DVD though, anyone can get their sick little mitts on these movies and watch them in all their gory mayhem glory!!!
