Composed and conducted by

Randy Edelman

Original Review

A great romantic score. WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING is a very bouncy and enjoyable experience. Randy Edelman steps away from the large orchestra and uses a much smaller ensemble to perform this music. The music works very well in the movie and by itself as well. If there was ever a score to listen to just to make yourself feel good with, this is most likely the one.

Most romantic scores just drip with a false saccharine feeling and delivery, but not this one. The tender moments Edelman composed here are tender and genuine. The track titled "Riverside Walk" is delightfully heartwarming. The main theme is cheery and well written, but the second, more romantic, theme is the one that really stands out. A third theme can be heard when Lucy is just getting introduced to Peter's family. Very fun track. While I'm on the subject of theme, Randy Edelman is one of the few composers who carry their themes all the way through. In doing so, he is able to keep our attention and fulfill our listening experience.

Overall, I really enjoy this score. Also, the fact that Sandra Bullock (my favorite actress) starred in the film didn't hurt much either. Over the years, Randy Edelman has showed us (the listener) that he is a versitle and highly talented filmmusic composer. With that said, WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING is a delightful creation.
