Mega-Music Corner

Do you love music? If not, what the hell are you doing here? Just kidding. Everyone on this vast ball of land and water derives some sort of pleasure from popping in their favorite CD and just relaxing, right? Well, music is certainly a large part of my life. I'll almost always catch myself humming a tune that I know I haven't heard for a while but still, somehow, know what the entire thing sounds like. Sound familiar?!? As the Internet is growing with each passing day, so are businesses that put their goods for sale on this "superhighway" of information. CDnow is one of the few truly boomingly successful online shops out there. Their constant sales and low prices have helped them become the #1 music store on the web.

As a loyal customer myself, I have come to hold this store with the highest of regards and respect. I only hope they continue their current high standards of service to customers everywhere. As of this reason, I choose to support them by showcasing some of their newest and most highly-anticipated CD releases. Below are only a few of CDnow's great offers. Please take a look. Who knows, you may actually want to buy one. If this kind of music just isn't your style, you may want to check out my soundtrack site. I have reviews to many new and very popular scores; there is an option to buy each one that CDnow carries. Click on "The Depot" on the table above to get there. Thanks!

Whether you like Alanis Morissette or not, you have to admire her career. How many people do you know that were on Nickelodeon's "You Can't Do Than On T.V." and survived into a successful adult career? Not many? As I thought. At any rate, on her latest album, "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie," Alanis has honed her talent and created a softer, yet brilliant collection. Give it a whirl.

Sheryl Crow, in my book, is one of this generation's most talented song writers/singers. Her two previous efforts, "Tuesday Night Music Club" and "Sheryl Crow" showed off her great talent. Now, with "The Globe Sessions," she has once again proven herself a master of lyrical music. Just like the other two albums, her mixture of rock, jazz, and blues culminate in an extremely entertaining end product. "The Globe Sessions" is one album you shouldn't miss.

It would be unfair for me to truly call this -"Garage Inc."- a new Metallica album, but it actually is. Granted, all of the songs on this double-CD release are brand-new covers of older songs, but who cares? IT'S METALLICA! Check it out.

The Smashing Pumpkins. Hmmm...what else can I say, other than consistently brilliant. "Adore" may be their most mellow effort, but it is also one of their best.

The Beastie Boys are back and are better than ever with their brand new CD "Hello Nasty." Pick this one up, quick!

Echobelly has to be my choice favorite of all of the bands I listen to. There is just something about these Brit rockers that really catches me. It might be the instantly memorable songs, undeniably intelligent and witty lyrics, or most possibly the superbly winning vocals of lead Sonya Aurora Madan. All three of their albums are unique but their distinctive style is evident throughout. "E.G.O." becoming hard to find, so grab it if you find it. "ON," their sophomore effort, is aggresive and widely available. "Lustra" is their newest album and it, by my standards, is their crowning achievement. Order this album while you can because they just may take the USA by storm. At least I hope so. Echobelly rules!!!

No Doubt is one of my personal favorite groups. Their debut album "No Doubt" is a great way to get to know their style which is so very polished in "Tragic Kingdom." Lead singer Gwen Stefani's vocals are refreshing and clear. Both albums are winners.

That talented Canadian, Sarah McLachlan, has become one of the music industry's biggest names. Just by hearing her music, it's not hard to see why. Aside from her solo career, she is also the founder of the group of women musicians called Lilith Fair. Each of her albums below represent her musical growth. In all fairness to the other two, "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" happens to be my favorite.

I've been into Garbage ever since their August 1995 debut. Their sound is quite unique, hard edged, and very intelligent. This mainly comes from the powerfully seductive vocals of lead Shirley Manson. She purrs her lines out with near perfection. "Garbage" and "Version 2.0" are both at the top of my favorites list. Both are great additions to any collection.
