I can remember watching this movie and hearing Danny Elfman's accompanying score when I was just a wee one. Even then, I was very impressed with his creative and witty musical style. After a lot of intensive searching, I finally found this CD. Not only does it contain PEE-WEE music, but it also has a portion of the BACK TO SCHOOL score on it(also by Elfman).

While listening to this CD, you can just imagine how much fun he had writing the score. It is very intricate and a joy to listen to. I might also add that this was Danny Elfman's first major motion picture score. Pretty impressive for the first time at bat. From the beginning, PEE-WEE for instance, Elfman has approached his assignments from a very thematic angle. About 2 or 3 different themes arise in this score.

While the music on this release is excellent, my only problem with it is its length. There are only about 17 minutes of the PEE-WEE score on the disc; even fewer on BACK TO SCHOOL. This is the only factor that holds this release from getting a top rating. Other than that, this is a great addition to your collection and a treasure for Elfman fans.
