You know what, everytime I listen to this to this score, it seems to only get better and better. Let me say this at first, Danny Elfman has probably created his most unusual and one of his most original scores in his career. He excells at writing at writing 50's style UFO film music. The main titles are absolutly fantastic and a hoot to listen to. The five beat main theme is used very oddly and creatively throughout the entire score. That is except for the last two vocal tracks.
My favorite song on the entire album is called "The Landing." It is unique in the fact that Elfman constructed his music in such a way that the scene is vividly replayed in my brain. Never has he done this quite so well before. One of the quirkiest tracks comes at the point in the film when Martin Short is trying to seduce the surrealistically sexy Martian Girl(Lisa Marie). The high, chanting voices are what make this track so effective and fun.
With the exception of the two vocal songs smartly placed at the end, MARS ATTACKS! is an instant classic and an ingenius Elfman gem. Buy it, you won't regret it.
