Family Tree Maker(TM)
FAQ 049
How
can I prevent FTM from making a Master Source citation every time I import
a file?
|
|
Version 5 introduced
a number of new concepts and operational changes, among them two that took
the user community unawares:
-
Importing from a file will create a Master Source citation attached to
every imported fact, noting the name of the source file and the date of
import. This is very similar to what had previously been the case for imports
from the World Family Tree (WFT) CDs, but now extended to all imports.
FIX: There is a secret setting in the configuration
file (FTW.INI) which controls this behavior, in the [Options]
section:
WFTAddSources=False |
[Note: NO semicolon!]
|
"True" causes the sources to be added, which is also the default.

Deletion of Master Sources which have referent citations is prohibited.
Previously, these could be deleted without any problem (perhaps too
easily). Now, in version 5 and following versions, all the citations
to a Master Source item must be deleted before the Source itself
can be deleted.
FIX: There is none. All the citations must be deleted
one by one before the Master Source can be deleted. To delete them, you
must first find them.
