Family Tree Maker (TM) FAQ 018
I discovered that two people already in my file married each other. How do I "hook them up"?

This method works regardless if either or both partners already have spouses.
  1. Go to the Family Page of one prospective spouse. If you can, pick one who does not already have a spouse.
  2. If your chosen person already has a spouse, click the Spouses icon on the right. Click Create New Spouse. If there are children, you will have a choice of including them in the new relationship, generally not a good idea.
  3. You now have what is known as a spouseless relationship
  4. Click People/Fix relationship mistakes/Attach spouse.
  5. You will be presented with the index of individuals. Find and select the person's spouse. Click OK.

  6. Now you should enter the real or estimated marriage date to the family page. This will establish the correct order in the case of multiple marriages.
NOTE!
DO NOT ADD ANY INFORMATION TO EITHER PERSON'S FAMILY PAGE
