• Occupation: Postmaster for Leith ( 391697 ), From 1949 to 1955, Leith, Grey, Ontario, Canada. 263 William V Fisher was the postmaster for Leith from 1948 to 1949. William Richard Rust-D'Eye was named acting Postmaster from 1949-03-19 and was given full appointment on 1949-05-18. The post was taken over 1955-01-26 by Mrs. Mary Viola Knott.

Among the mail carriers on RR1, Owen Sound were James Frizzell, the first mail carrier, Hiram Vanwyck, George Scott, Victor Habart (1937-1951) and Mr. William Pegelo.



• Residence: Leith General Store, 1949 to 1959, Leith, Grey, Ontario, Canada. 264 In 1864, Mr. Arthur Cameron built a general store and residence on Leith Walk. Mr. Cameron was named postmaster on April 5, 1875. A daughter, Miss Emma and sons, Arthur Jr., Richard and G. Oliver and later his son, Clarence (Bub) operated this store and Post Office until the sale of it to Mr. WIlliam Fisher in September 1948. For many years it was the solitary business in Leith

William Rust-D'Eye purchased the store from Mr. Fisher in March 1949 and operated the store until 1958.

Directly across the road from the store had been a stable, which was later converted to a garage. In 1949 Clarence Cameron was making cabinets, sash doors, etc. in its basement. The Camerons sold their property, including the house next door to Mr. Norman Hall.

In 1954 Mr. hall sold the two storey fram building to William Rust-D'Eye, who converted it to a Snack Bar operated along with the general store.

In 1961, Mr. Rust-D'Eye sold the store to Mr. Gordon MacPhatter and the Snack Bar to Kenneth Spence, who converted it to a house. The MacPhatter's residence was not only living quarters, but Miss Lois Knaggs operated a hairdresser's shop in the front of the building, and Mrs. Andrew Beattie had an antique room for a short period.

In 1965, Mrs. MacPhatter sold her property to Miss Dorothy Butchart who operated an art gallery there for a time.
