The Meaneys of Ferryland and Calvert (Caplin Bay), Newfoundland.

The Meaney family of Calvert (Caplin Bay) appear to be descendants of Francis and Elizabeth Meaney who are listed at Ferryland in the Census of 1800. James Meaney, believed to be from this family, settled at Stone Island in the 1830s. He had at least two sons, Francis and Thomas, who raised families at Caplin Bay. The Meaney surname died out at Calvert in 1990.
