World of Words

Words are a beautiful powerful thing.
Hopefully you will find a hint of that in My Soul.

I think words are smooth on their own or with others.
Take a look to see what I mean:

Words
. . . on their own.

Here are some delicious little words that are fun:

Guffaw
(A wierd word for laughter. It just sounds fun.)
Fanagle
(Enough Said.)
Hodgepodge
(Yes it really is a word. How fun.)
Sizzle
(What a fun little word to say.)
Cantankerous
(Oooh . . . sounds mean. I need a "Beware of Word" sign.)
Quackery
(It means "the claims of a Quack". Too funny.)
Curmudgeon
(It is what it sounds like.)

More to come. Soon.

Song Lyrics

Words alone are powerful,
but when set to music they drive deeper and sharper into the heart.
The following words have changed me and are powerful
on their own, but for the true experience, listen to the song.

Worlds Apart
Jars of Clay - Jars of Clay

I am the only one to blame for this, Somehow it all ends up the same
Soaring on the wings of selfish pride, I flew too high and like Icharus I collide
With a world I tried so hard to leave behind, To rid myself of all but love,
to give and die

To turn away and not become,Another nail to peirce the skin of one who loves
More deeply than the oceans, More abundant than the tears
Of a world embracing every heartache, Can I be the one to sacrifice
Or grip the spear and watch the blood and water flow

To love you - take my world apart
To need you - I am on my knees
To love you - take my world apart
To need you - broken on my knees

All said and done I stand alone, Amongst remains of I life I should not own
It takes all I am to believe, In the mercy that covers me
Did you really have to die for me, All I am for all you are
Because what I need and what I believe are worlds apart

I look beyond the empty cross, forgetting what my life has cost
wipe away the crimson stains, dull the nails that still remain
more and more I need you know, I owe you more each passing hour
the battle between grace and pride, gave up not so long ago
steal my heart and take the pain, wash my feet and cleanse my pride
take the selfish take the weak, and all the things I cannot hide
take the beauty take the tears, this sin soaked heart and make it yours
take my world apart, take it now take it now
serve the ones that I despise, speak the words I can't deny
watch the world I used to love, fall to dust and thrown away
I look beyond the empty cross, forgetting what my life has cost
and wipe away the crimson stains, and dull the nails that still remain
steal my heart and take the pain, wash my feet and clanse my pride
take the selfish take the weak, and all the things I cannot hide
take my world apart take my world apart, I pray I pray I pray
take my world apart

Hands in the Air
The Waiting

If I raise my hands just to lift the shade
Will I reveal a sky heavy and gray?
Will last night be a memory simply fading?
How I hate a morning starting out this way
On these lonely raging mornings
I would whip You if I could
But You're on the mighty side of strong
And the perfect side of good
If I raise my hands will You grab me by the wrists?
And will You try to pull me from the fray?
And even if my fingers join together into fists
Will You hold me firmly anyway?
Because I would try to escape you
But for everyday I'm sure
That You're on the huge side of big
And the Holy side of pure

Okay, here I will stay
Hands in the air, singing Have Thine Own Way

If I raise my hands so weak and thin and frail
Will You reveal the light of mercy in Your eyes?
If I cry to You faintly will my feeble whisper fail
Or will it find its way to a reply?
Because now that I'm exhausted I think i'm ready to admit
That I've spent all my resistance on someone I can't resist

Light from my widow sill, make my way to the door
I hang my head and still I know You're wanting more
Over the threshold now I make my way to the yard
All that my will allows, my every step is hard
Now in the garden I carve out six feet of space
There mae my will comply, lie down upon my face
Been toe to toe to long, I'm tired of fighting You
I see You were to strong for I am black and blue
But now I understand the loser's due to win
How every dying man is sure to rise again
So I raise my left hand one, I raise my right hand two
Under the morning sun, my spirit cries to You
Okay, Hear what I say
As I raise my hands and surrender today
Right here, under the sun
Hands in the air singing Thy Will Be Done
I'm here under the sun
Hands in the air singing Thy Will Be Done
Okay, Here I will stay
Hands in the air singing Have Thine Own Way
Have Thine Own Way

Beautiful
Plankeye

You shared her with me yesterday, so close yet so far away
It's the little things she does that magnify You grace
And Your grace resonates in my soul everytime I see her face

At your feet I lay her down, humbly before you I bow
She's the blessing, You've given to me, Father of light

The lines have fallen in pleasant places,
Many daughters have done well but you excel them all
Protect her, mold her with your hands
You've been good to me my sweet
And you grace it resonates in my soul everytime I see her face
You have been a shelter Lord, she has been my dream

Beautiful, Beautiful, I feel your grace abound on me
In the light, In the light

At your feet I lay her down, humbly before You I bow
She's the blessing You've given to me, Father of Light

Who Loves You More?
Plankeye

I stir my cup and think of you; it's just the little things that break me
But it's not right to hold you so tight; I end up wrestling with God over you
Whose hands are safer? Who could steal you from his grip?
It seperates the ocean, with a brush so effortless . . .
There is nothing to worry about, becuase who loves you more than Jesus?
So here again I find myself and everything I've ever loved,
At the foot of the cross with three nails
There is nothing to worry about, because who loves you more than Jesus

If I hold on to you will I let go of Christ?
Will I end up denying Him in abundance of thrice?
Will I end up in the end with less than what I started?
When I surrender . . .

Hitler's Girlfriend
Dime Store Prophets

Someone left the window open, cold air is slowly creeping in.
I'm sitting watch TV sitcoms where everyone is happy in the end,
and I'm beginning to believe it,
some say we can get by without the help of a friend, and I'm lying here,
strapped to an engine stuck in idle,
don't feel 'cause I don't fear don't love 'cause I lost . . .
don't know, don't want to know . . .

I'm not myself 'til you are you (I want to bleed, bleed for you)
If I close my eyes I'm killing you (Kiss your hands, kiss your wounds)
I carry the weight of this safety net,
So I feel like Hitler's girlfriend, blind to this and numb to that

I know a girl who writes happy faces on everything she writes
She doesn't fool me, I've seen her bag of troubles, -It's not light
Don't you know that I want to reach out, cry for her
Carry the weight, but something just won't let me leave the couch
There's a scream and a crash, there's a knife and a chain,
And her head is full of spirits . . . my foot is asleep.

I was sprawled out a the foot of my bed with a rage of fire
going round in my head, I said,
"Could this be the salt of the earth in my tears?"
I am watching Miss Brown, some say she didn't know,
Just took another Judas' kiss now
Well I'm not blaming you, was there something you could do?
My coffee is cold . . .

Verses

Words of power . . . Words of God.

Hebrews 12:28,29
"Therefore since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken,
let us show gratitude by which may offer to God an acceptable service with
reverence and awe for our God is a consuming fire."

Philippians 4:6
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."

Hebrews 4:16
"Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace,
that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in the time of need."

James 1:2,3
"Count it all joy my brethren when you encounter various trials,
knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance."

Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."

Randomness

Welcome to my random assortment of great lyric feats.
These are just nice little things that took my attention by the throat
and squeezed so hard that I fell in love with them.

"Thrifty Mister Kickstar"
(Title from Dryve's debut album.)

It's great because of the linguistic patterns.
Check out the first three sounds, then the last three:
Thrih-Mih-Kih . . . Tee-Ter-Tar.
It's beautiful.

"I've been toe to toe too long."
(Line from "Hands in the Air" by The Waiting.)

First it puts a fun new twist to the phrase "face to face",
but even better is the sound of "toe to toe too". It's brilliant.

"Fantastic Distraction"
(Title of Dime Store Prophet's sophomore release.)

It's just fun.
There are a lot of little subtleties in the syllabic patterns.
But a mirror between the two words and then just look carefully.
Truly a linguistic feat.

"Count your losses and cast off . . . Your ashes and sackcloth"
(Line from "Scarred but Smarter" by Model Engine)

You really need to listen to it to get the full effect,
but let me explain . . .
It's talking about moving on. "Count your losses and cast off"
talks about gathering what you have left and sailing away,
So "cast off" means to sail away.
Ashes and sackloth represent an old style of mourning and greiving.
People put ashes on themselves and wore sackcloth (like burlap),
To demonstrate the intensity of their grief.
Go back to "cast off" and add it to the front of that part . . .
"Cast off your ashes and sackcloth", throw them off.
Now its beauty is revealed.
The phrase "cast off" is a perfect pivot word.
It has two meanings which flow together with brilliant harmony.
Amazing.

More delicious gems to come.
