A.J. waited sadly at the docks for Carly. He just needed to see her. After the news he just got she was probably the only person who could cheer him up. When she showed up, he was feeling much better just looking at her. She had her hair up like she had the night of the docks signing. She was wearing faded blue jeans and a white shirt, with short baby blue colored sleeves. She looked terrified. She ran to hug A.J., "Oh god. You had me so scared." She hit him lightly, "You trying to give me a heart attack?!""I'm sorry. I just--my dad...he's in the hospital." A.J. told her.
Carly gasped, "Oh no. Why?"
"Overdose. He's addicted to pain killers."
Carly put his shoulders and tilted her head so she could look him in the eyes.
A.J. was facing down like he was ashamed of his dad's problem. He laughed when she tilted her head, because her hair kind of hung down and brushed his hand. A.J put his hands on Carly's hips and stood her straight. "You can't even let me be in a crappy mood. Can you?" A.J. laughed, "Just once I'd like it if you didn't make me smile."
"You want to be in a crappy mood? Fine." Carly crossed her arms and put on a pouty face, "The world sucks, life bites, and all people stink."
A.J. smiled, "No, I don't want to be in a crappy mood."
"Good, because I would really like to be happy." Carly shook him by his shoulders.
"I make you happy?" A.J. inquired.
"Yes, you do, but only when you're happy." Carly felt giddy and very happy around him. It was a different feeling than the feeling she felt with Jason. Jason made her feel passionate and in love. With A.J. it was more about flirting and joking, nothing major.
"Ok, I'm happy."
"Ok, then so am I. So what are you going to do about your dad?"
"I don't know. I've tried so hard to keep him from falling on his face."
"A.J., please tell me you didn't know about this."
"I was trying to help."
"A.J., you know that even if he admits it he has got to do things like go to detox, especially for pain killers," Carly lectured.
"I was just trying to help. I didn't want my dad to hit rock bottom."
"Like you did," Carly added.
"Yeah." A.J. smiled. "You know me too well."
"A.J., it was really sweet for you to try and do that for him, but you know as well as I do that for most people, hitting rock bottom is what it takes," Carly reminded him.
"I know, I just kind of wanted to save him." A.J. picked a rock and threw it out at the water.
Carly took his hands. "You did what you could. Nearly dying should probably make him realize he needs help."
A.J. squeezed her hands. "I hope so."
"Me too. Now come on. A trip to see Michael would cheer you up," Carly suggested, not feeling anywhere near as nervous the first time she took A.J. to see Michael.
***********Bobbie played with Michael. Poking his nose with a stuffed animal. Michael would giggle in response. There was a knock at the door. Bobbie gave Michael the toy and opened the door, "Robin."
"Hi, Bobbie." Robin seemed so sweet and innocent when Carly wasn't around.
Bobbie finally got it through her head that Robin was not what she seem to be. "What do you need, Robin?"
"Geez, Bobbie, that wasn't too nice." Robin yet again walked in without asking.
"Not after the way you talked to Carly." Bobbie put her hands on her hips.
"Bobbie, Carly is not as sensitive as she seems. She's not so scared or innocent. When she tells you she's not feeling good, you should think to yourself, 'Hey she might be lying.' Because not one person can trust her!" Robin took her emotions out on Bobbie now.
"Trust me! She's not lying! She has not been feeling well lately. Lay off!" Bobbie shouted.
"How can you be sure?!" Robin yelled.
"Because she's pregnant! You bimbo!" Bobbie let out.
Robin took a step back and held onto the couch, "She's pregnant?"
Bobbie wanted to hit herself. "Oh, Robin. I'm sorry. Carly was going to wait for Jason to tell you and I did. Are you ok?"
"No, I'm not. I thought--she's pregnant too." Robin couldn't handle all this. She felt the room spinning and fell to the floor.
**********Carly and A.J. walked into the house laughing, but stopped when they saw Robin. Bobbie was trying to wake her up. Carly and A.J. ran to Robin.
"Mom, what happened?" Carly looked at Robin, who was passed out on her living room floor.
"She fainted when I told her you were pregnant." Bobbie again opened her mouth, not knowing what damage she was causing.
"You told her!?" Carly was still trying to shake Robin awake.
"It just came out." Bobbie excused herself.
A.J. looked at Carly, "Pregnant?"
Carly heard A.J. choke out the words. She turned to him, "A.J., I'm sorry."
"But you don't look like you're--" A.J. wanted to continue, but Bobbie interrupted.
"Help!" She groaned, picking up Robin.
A.J. took Robin into his arms and Bobbie went with A.J. to her car. Carly had to stay with Michael. A.J. gave Carly one last hurt look before leaving.
**********Jason woke up and went downstairs to find Sonny. Sonny smiled at him, "How are you feeling?"
"Fine, I guess." Jason wasn't ok.
"Any decisions?" Sonny raised a brow.
"Not one." Jason went to the window and looked out at the ocean, "Sonny, do you think it's possible to love two women at once?"
"Yes, I do," Sonny replied. He thought about Lilly and Brenda.
"You do? I know I can't have them both. But I can't help but wish I could, you know?"
"People often want what they can't handle." Sonny explained as Jason turned to him, "It's part of being human. You always want something extra. You always want that amazing girl, no matter who you know you'll end up going home with tonight. You always want something extra, you always want to want something. Doesn't matter if it's not healthy, we still need--crave it."
Jason shrugged, "So what do you do when you can have the extra thing? I mean when you can have what you already have or the extra thing?"
"It all depends. In your case, you feel you have to choose. Not Robin, not Carly, but you have to decide. You're the one here trying to decide what's best for them. This is the grown up thing to do. You're not sitting at home letting them fight over you. You're taking responsiblity and that takes guts. You gotta admire that. I do," Sonny praised and Jason grinned. "Jason, what you're doing right now I couldn't do. You just take the time you need. In the end they'll thank you for it." Sonny patted him on the shoulder and went up to his room. Jason took pride in Sonny's compliments. He didn't feel so bad now.
