Chancellorsville-------------------------

Last years "big event"(if you can call it that)was Chancellorsville. It was held at Fort Picket, Va. It was an excellent place for the event, with plenty off roads and paths to make the flank march on Hookers army. The battles were "the usual"(if you have seen one battle, you have seen em all).Line em up and shoot em. Of course its always those lesser known incidents that make re-enactments fun. One of those happened Saturday morning on the march. We had stopped for some unknown reason(that hurry up and wait thing again) when I noticed that Captain Stowe was indulging in some "poptack". Before I could ask if I could join in the feast, he dropped half of it. He told me to step on it to get rid of it. Imagine that! "Step on it?" I replied in wonderment, "hell, I'm gonna eat it!" I devoured it down with a smile. Hey, I have eaten steak with ashes in it, I figured a little dirt wouldn't hurt! If the yankees of old could burn half the south, their modern day descendants couldn't burn a building. They tried to burn a "house" down, but could not get it to burn! It was surely one of those Kodak moments. We all watched in laughter as they tried and tried to get that house to burn. In camp, J.B. cooked a mess of food. It was some of the best viddles I have had! With food that good, I tried to get him to marry me, but to no avail. Oh well, you can't have it all. The only other thing about Chancellorsville was the" Tom and Josh fiasco". For details on that......well maybe you don't want the details. Needless to say we were on "the list" for a while, hell, we might be still on it! Anyway, that's the highlights of the event.

Fredericksburg---------------

This is one of those events that is surely different from the rest. There is only one battle on Saturday. The rest of the weekend is yours for the taking. We got there Friday night and got our room(as in hotel room). Some of us got together to exchange Christmas gifts. The gifts were nice but unexpected. I still feel bad for not getting you people something(you know who you are). The time spent together was good too. Saturday morning we had a good breakfast with everyone in attendance. After breakfast, we had some time to kill before the battle, and decided to go to the many shops to spend some money(more on the shops later)The battle was good. We got to see the union army cross the river on small rafts. They then formed up on our side of the river and the battle was on. Our unit was held in reserve behind the tree line. We took some shots, and never killed one yankee. Hey, do yankees ever die? The battle ended with a mad dash toward the union line, with lots of dead confederates. The great flood? Beau, Kyle, and Kristi, shared a room, but were soon run out when the faucet in the shower came off! The room was filling with water, so we opened our room to them. What a sight to see, all that water coming out! They managed to get another room, after a lot of fussing and swearing with the management. Back to the stores! There at least two stores there that I could live in. One is called Celtic Connection(a lot of Scottish things). The other is an Irish store, but still has a lot of neat things in it. I went to the Celtic Connection 2-3 times. The pricesare high, but if you like Scottish things, its worth it! Whereas everyone at? We got split up on Sunday, with everyone leaving at different times. Some left early, some left around noon, and some stayed until five or six. We didn't get a chance to say our good-byes, but that time will come again at the next event. That's pretty much it this time folks. I hope to see everyone at the Lee-Jackson which is in about two weeks. Try to make it so I can have something to writs about! See y`all there!!
