October 1

Believing that Margo is setting his boss up, Eddie decides to give Alec the heads up. Tom cautions that Eddie could endanger Margo's life. Tom warns Hal he may have blown Margo's cover. Meanwhile, Margo gets Georgia to confess that Alec is Eddie's father. Margo suggests that she tell him before he finds out from someone else. Later, Eddie tells Georgia he's concerned about Alec, and heads to the airport to try to catch up with him. Katie offers to let Chris crash at Margo's place, but Margo, concerned about the safety of the people around her, refuses to let him stay. She's not pleased when Katie informs her that Chris is already in the house taking a shower. Alec makes a deal with the hitman and picks up Margo. Hal is alarmed when the department loses touch with Margo. Eddie tracks down Alec and Margo, as the hitman takes aim. Eddie tries to push Alec out of the way and a shot rings out. Both men fall to the ground.

October 4

Eddie takes a bullet that was meant for Alec. He is rushed to the hospital, where John informs Alec, Margo, Tom and Georgia that he needs to undergo surgery. Margo tells Alec she knows that he's Eddie's father. He confirms it, but begs her not to tell anyone. Margo defends Alec to Hal, starting to believe Alec is innocent. She comforts a devastated Alec while Tom looks on.

October 5

Tom tries to grill Alec, but Margo gets him to back off. Tom and Margo argue over what he sees as her recklessness, but she tells him she doesn't need his protection. Alec gets a call and slips out of the hospital to deal with Carter. Later, Hal discovers Carter has been shot. At the hospital, Margo finds Alec in the chapel. He hides any evidence of having left.

October 6

Margo finds Alec at the crime scene. He tells her with Eddie's injury and his own near death experience, he has come to appreciate her presence in his life. At home later, Margo spots Alec and his cronies on the front page of the paper. After lovingly covering Tom, who is asleep on the sofa, with a blanket, she heads out to find Alec.

October 7

Margo confronts Alec with the newspaper article. Alec "admits" to his criminal past, but claims he wants to change now for Eddie. Eddie awakens and recalls Margo is working undercover. He tries to warn Alec, but is interrupted by a doctor. Margo reports to Hal, who questions her loyalty. Meanwhile, Eddie wakes up and tells Alec he thinks Margo is still a cop.

October 8

Eddie reveals to Alec that Margo told Tom she slept with Alec. Alec realizes that Margo hasn't been honest with either of them, and heads out to take care of her. Tom gets Hal to admit that Margo is indeed working undercover, and is not having an affair with Alec. But Hal has taken her off the case because she has gotten in too deep. Later, Alec arrives at the house looking for Margo, but Tom tells him she doesn't want to see him. Emily, determined to win Tom's love, follows Alec. Alec discovers that Margo has gone to a hotel in Chicago, and tracks her down there. As she stands on the balcony of her hotel room, Alec steps toward her...

October 11

Alec confronts Margo, who admits she is working undercover. She's surprised when Alec offers evidence that can send him to prison. He asks for some time together before she turns him in. Margo begins to doubt her suspicions about him, and they make love. After sending Alec and Margo champagne to set the mood, Emily heads back to Oakdale. She hints to Tom that Margo and Alec are romantically involved, but doesn't reveal they are in Chicago together.

October 12

Waking up in bed together, Margo tells Alec that the statue of limitations has run out on his crimes, so he won't have to go to prison. When Alec insists on confessing to the police, Margo agrees to go with him to the police station. Hal and Jack reveal that Alec had phone contact with the hitman who shot Eddie. Alec claims the hitman called him posing as a businessman, but Margo has doubts.

October 13

Tom and Margo were not on.

October 14

Eddie asks Margo if Alec is up to no good. Alec swears to Margo that he had nothing to do with the hitman; Margo believes him. Alec assures Eddie that Margo and Tom are history. Hal tells Tom that Margo is a loose cannon who could jeopardize Alec's case. Margo tells Hal that she now believes Alec. Tom is stunned when Margo announces that there is more to her relationship with Alec than Tom thought.

October 15

Margo admits to Tom that she has real feelings for Alec. Tom refuses to give up and is determined to make Margo see the truth about Alec. Alec and Margo go on another date. Alec gets a call from the bartender, who informs him that Jake and Julia have been taken care of.

October 18

Alec tries to seduce Margo and asks her to spend the night. Unfortunately, Margo gets a call from Casey and leaves. While Margo and Casey are spending some quality time together at home, Alec arrives with a bag of toys for Casey. The boy is thrilled, and Margo admits she's glad that Alec came by. Later, Casey asks Margo if Alec is her boyfriend. Margo tells Casey that Mr. Wallace is her friend.

October 19

October 20

Jake and Julia crash Margo and Alec's dinner, spooking Alec, who covers. Jake and Julia reveal they were almost killed, and insinuate that Alec was responsible for the boat explosion. Alec talks his way out of it. Jake pretends to buy it, but decides to search Alec's room. Tom is upset about Margo's relationship with Alec, and Emily uses his vulnerability to invite herself and Daniel to dinner with Tom and Casey. Margo is uncertain about her budding relationship with Alec, but is stung when she spots Tom, Emily and the kids out to dinner. The encounter is very awkward, and Alec invites Margo up to his room for a drink. Meanwhile, Julia's quick thinking gets Jake and Julia into Alec's suite. They find a diamond bracelet, three plane tickets to Spain (for tomorrow), and a reservation for a private yacht. They hide out on the ledge as Alec and Margo return, and Alec gives Margo the diamond bracelet. When Alec steps out, Margo discovers Jake and Julia. She kicks them out, and Alec overhears. Margo admits to Alec that Jake and Julia were snooping around, but claims they were trying to do a story on him. Alec invites Margo and Casey on a romantic trip to Spain. Caught up in the romance of it all, she accepts. Meanwhile, Jake tells Tom about Alec's latest stunt and warns him not to let Margo and Casey go away with him.

October 21

Tom brings Margo African violets and tries to woo her with memories of their early romance. He doubts her feelings for Alec and pulls her into a kiss, but she slaps him. Tom reveals he knows about Alec's travel plans for them, and he refuses to let Casey out of the country. When John arrives with Casey, he, too, is skeptical about the trip. Casey overhears his parents arguing and begs them to stop. John offers to keep Casey until Margo and Tom can work something out; they agree. After John and Casey leave, Margo and Tom's argument intensifies. Tom tells Margo that Alec uses her as an alibi whenever bad things happen. He storms out, leaving Margo shaken. Alec, who has overheard everything, is furious.

October 22

Margo tries to get out of the trip with Alec, but is tempted by his promises of showering her with luxury and love. She relents, and he wants to leave at once. At the station, Tom begs Hal to stop Margo from going abroad with Alec. They decide to retrace Wallace's steps to see if he could have been in the position to kill Carter. They hit paydirt--Andy spotted Alec leaving the chapel alone on the night Carter died. Tom and Hal wonder why Alec would kill Carter for winging Eddie. Just then, Jake shows up with the shocking revelation that Eddie is Alec's son. Margo and Alec are leaving for their trip when Hal arrives, announcing that Alec is under arrest for murder.

October 25

Alec is brought in for questioning. Hal and Tom inform Margo that Alec's alibi on the night Carter was shot fell through. Margo promises Alec that she's going to keep him out of jail. After, Tom reveals to Margo that he knows Alec is Eddie's father. He urges her to face the facts--Alec is a dangerous man. Margo insists that Alec must be telling the truth. How could Alec swear on his son's life and not mean it? Alec would never hurt Eddie. Just then, Eddie arrives--and he's overheard everything.

October 26

A disbelieving Eddie confronts Margo with what he's overheard. She finally reveals that Alec is Eddie's father. Eddie fumes that Alec lied to him. Eddie tells Georgia what he's found out, and is shocked that she already knows. Convinced the whole town is laughing at him, Eddie rushes off to confront Alec. Tom blames Margo for letting Alec manipulate Eddie's life; Margo counters it's Tom's fault that Eddie has learned the truth in this devastating way. Eddie visits Alec and calls him "dad."

October 27

Margo and Tom continue to argue over the Eddie/Alec fiasco. Margo won't forgive Tom for digging up Eddie's secret and causing Alec's arrest. She declares she wants Tom out of her life--for good. Eddie blasts Alec for not telling him the truth. He refuses to listen to any of Alec's explanations or excuses for keeping the secret, and declares that he will never be like Alec. When Margo arrives, Eddie storms out. Alec blames Tom and Jake for the mess, and swears revenge on them. Margo tries to convince Alec to let it go, but Wallace has other ideas. Alec is released on bail, and Tom convinces Hal and new District Attorney Jessica to put Margo in jail in order to keep her safe. Hal and Tom arrive with a Grand Jury summons for Alec, and a furious Margo rips it up. Tom goads Margo into refusing to answer the summons to court. Hal reminds her she'll go to jail, and Margo calls their bluff.

October 28

Margo, John and Casey have lunch at the Lakeview. John remarks that Alec seems dangerous, but Alec arrives and assures John that Margo is safe with him. When Margo doesn't show up for her Grand Jury testimony, Hal goes to arrest her for contempt of court, with Tom tagging along. Margo realizes that her refusal to appear before the Grand Jury was a set up, and goads Hal to handcuff her. Casey is shaken to see his mother hauled off to jail, and John and Lisa tell Tom he's gone too far this time. John offers to spend time with Casey, but he would rather hang out with a friend. Margo is upset to realize that her friend Jessica was also in on the plot to have her arrested; Tom has turned everyone against her. Alec promises to take care of everything. Tom visits Margo in jail; she blasts him, declaring their marriage is over. Outside, Alec lures an unsuspecting Casey into his limousine.

October 29

Georgia visits Margo in jail. Margo assures her that Eddie will get over his anger, and that Alec is not dangerous. Emily tries to convince Tom that it's time to give up on Margo, but he refuses. Tom is floored when Casey, who is out fishing with Alec, calls and informs his dad of his whereabouts. Alec cuts the phone conversation short, and Tom heads off to see Margo. Margo calls Alec and insists that he bring Casey home, and Alec disconnects the phone. Margo gives Tom directions to Alec's cabin, but assures him that Alec would never hurt Casey. Casey returns to Margo. Later, Jennifer and Adam bring Margo a chocolate mousse cake, and they share a special family moment. Margo gets a chill when her mind wanders to Tom. She tries to shake it off. Tom gets out to the fishing pier and confronts Alec, who is now alone. Alec informs Tom he has sent Casey back to Oakdale. Tom calls and learns that Casey is with Margo, and the whole "kidnapping" was a set up to get Tom alone with Alec. The two men argue, and Alec knocks Tom out with a rock. Alec dumps Tom's body into the lake, but then is surprised to suddenly hear Eddie arrive on the pier.
