Alec offers Eddie a job as a new junior partner at Wallace Enterprises. Alec opens up emotionally and admits he wants to leave his legacy to someone...Eddie. Margo interrupts a romantic dinner between Hal and Barbara and reveals that Alec claims he's going to be the next victim. She heads off to break into his office to investigate. Barbara surprises Hal by not being upset at the interruption, admitting that she now understands that his career is very important to him. Meanwhile, Margo sneaks into Alec's office and is stunned to find Alec's secret files on her and Eddie. She wonders why Alec has a baby picture of Eddie. |

September 3 |
Margo worries over Alec's files on her and Eddie, afraid that Eddie is in danger. Alec finds her and accuses her of breaking and entering. She throws the accusation back at him, demanding to know why he has these files. Eddie arrives and shocks Margo by accepting Alec's job offer. Margo tries to persuade Eddie not to take the job. Eddie doesn't understand Margo's change of attitude towards Alec, but Alec covers, saying that she's upset because he did a background check. Privately, Margo tells Alec that she fears for Eddie's life if he becomes one of Alec's partners. Alec assures her that Eddie isn't in danger. When Alec leaves, Eddie returns and demands to know why Margo is really against his working for Alec. |

Eddie challenges Margo to tell him why she thinks he shouldn't take Alec's job offer. Eddie wonders if Margo knows something about Mr. Wallace that he doesn't. Margo claims she thinks Eddie is too young and won't be able to handle the pressures of the job. Eddie is hurt she has so little faith in him. When Alec and Georgia enter Alec's office, Eddie announces that Margo has convinced him to take the job. |

Margo wants to discuss business with her new boss, but Alec's only interested in romance. Margo tries to blow him off gently for dinner that night, but he insists he won't take no for an answer. Alec leaves, and Carly tails him, hoping to land a job. Back at the diner, Margo chews out a disguised Hal for tailing her. Hal, fearing for Margo's safety, tries to pull her off the case, but Margo begs for one more night to get Alec to open up to her. Margo interrupts Carly's pitch to Alec, and Wallace boots Carly out. In an effort to get closer to him, Margo tells Alec that she's falling in love with him. |

Lisa calls Tom, upset that the City Times scooped them about Reid. Emily admits to Tom she's afraid that David will come after her. Tom assures her that she has nothing to fear. Emily thanks Tom for his calming affect on her. She asks him to hire her at the Argus. At first Tom is skeptical, but she convinces him it would only be temporary. Tom then goes to Lisa, who doesn't love the idea of hiring Ms. Stewart. She reluctantly agrees, but reminds him he'll need Alec's approval. Tom finds out that Alec is in his suite, but isn't accepting calls. Margo tries to get Alec to open up to her and misses a meeting with Hal to be alone with Alec at his place. Alec admits that he hurt the first woman that he ever loved, but avoids getting into details. Things heat up between them, and Alec starts to undress her. On the verge of making love, the twosome is interrupted by Tom at the door, seeking Alec's signature for Emily. Tom is thrown to see the disheveled duo. Margo quickly seizes the opportunity to get out by inventing an excuse about Casey. A confused Tom plays along. Margo apologizes to Alec and takes off. Tom waits for her and demands an explanation. Margo claims she just had second thoughts about sleeping with Alec when she saw Tom. Tom is encouraged, and a fuming Emily gets an idea. She calls Alec and tells him she wants to discuss Tom and Margo Hughes. |

Chris recruits Tom to join Nancy's birthday party. Emily introduces herself to Alec, and offers him a deal: give her a job and she'll keep Tom away from Margo. Alec turns her down. Meanwhile, Lisa tells Tom she has reservations about hiring Emily. Later, Emily informs Tom and Lisa that Alec refused to hire her. Tom suggests that Emily consider a career change. Hal is fuming at Margo for meeting with Alec without a wire or backup. Hal wants her off the case, but Margo gets a call from Alec, who wants to meet her. Margo agrees, and Hal follows. At Alec's, Margo denies that she left him because of Tom, but admits to Wallace she's "afraid" of their growing relationship. Alec decides to fire her to take the pressure off. Margo is furious, but Alec insists that it's more important to maintain their personal than professional relationship. Later, Alec reconsiders and offers Emily a job. She agrees. Meanwhile, Margo informs Hal that she intends to keep up her romantic relationship with Alec to continue to investigate him. Hal wonders how far she'll go to get the information she needs. |

Katie is surprised when Margo reveals Alec fired her. She calls Tom with the scoop, and Tom thanks her. Emily breezes into work, pleased to be working with Tom again. To Emily's chagrin, Tom reveals he's taking the rest of the day off to spend time with Margo. A nervous Eddie begins his first day at Wallace Enterprises, and is stunned to hear Margo's been canned. Eddie wonders if Margo was fired because of him, and Alec presses Eddie for what Margo said to him. Eddie admits that Margo didn't think Eddie was up to the job. A livid Alec wonders why Margo kept this from him. Eddie is surprised by Alec's angry reaction. Alec admits he feels a real connection to Margo, and Eddie tells him that Margo's still hooked on Tom. Alec covers his anger. Emily walks in on a fuming Alec and reveals Tom is spending the day with Margo. Emily is fascinated to hear that Alec laid off Margo, and presses for more information. Alec won't tell her anything, but Emily is determined to find out what Margo's up to. Alec recalls Emily and Eddie's words that Margo isn't over Tom, and heads out to find her. Margo is frustrated, pouring over Alec's file, when Tom shows up. He claims he's come to do his annual check of the furnace. He gives her a compliment, and then gets her to admit that she no longer works for Alec. Tom gives Margo a photo of her and the boys, and also one of herself and Tom. He wears down her defenses. He kisses her, and she resists, but then eventually gives in. It heats up and they begin to make love. |

September 20 |
As things between them grow passionate, Margo admits that Tom is the only man for her. The passionate moment is interrupted by Alec's arrival. Margo asks Tom to hide, but won't tell him why. He does, and overhears Alec apologize for firing her. Alec wonders if she has divorced Tom, and Margo informs him that she won't divorce Tom until she has to (if she plans to remarry). Margo is shocked when Alec reveals that Tom lobbied for him to hire Emily at the Argus. Tom reveals himself, but claims he just arrived at the house. Margo lets him have it for getting involved with Emily again. Alone with Margo, Tom tries to find out what's going on with Alec, but she asks him to leave. Emily brings Daniel to the Argus office, and Lisa accuses Emily of using her son to get closer to Tom. Emily tries to butter up Lisa, who wants nothing to do with her. Later, Tom tells Lisa and Emily he's certain he can save his marriage. Regardless, Emily assures Daniel she'll win his daddy's love. Back at the Hughes' residence, Alec offers Margo a job as a security consultant. Pleased, Margo calls Hal to inform him she still has an in with Alec. Meanwhile, Alec phones a henchman, saying he has Margo right where he wants her and asks him to come to town for one more hit. |

Tom has created a romantic setting for Margo on the rooftop, and writes a false news article saying the building is going to be condemned so she'll show up. Margo is stunned when she arrives and Tom appears with champagne. Margo is still angry with him for getting Emily a job at the Argus, but the mood changes when Tom puts on their song. They fondly remember the first time they came to this rooftop. Tom suggests that they forget about Emily and Alec, but Margo isn't able to. Tom insists they can no longer deny their feelings, but an emotional Margo takes off. Alone, Tom declares that Margo will dance with him again as he remembers their dance on the rooftop. Back at the house, Margo shares the same memory and dances alone. |

Hal informs Margo that Jack has uncovered a hitman in town. Hal wonders who the target might be and Margo says if she is to believe what Alec has told her, it could be Alec, but admits she doesn't think it is. Margo needs more time because she has no idea who it could be. A worried Hal demands that Margo keep him posted. Alec is on the phone with the hitman, making sure everything is set. Alec is going out of town until the job is done. When Alec gets off the phone he informs Eddie that they're going out of town. Eddie is hesitant. What will happen if he doesn't want to go? Margo and Georgia interrupt their confrontation. Margo fears that Eddie may be the target and grills Georgia about Eddie and Alec's relationship. Georgia tries to ease Margo's fears. Tom arrives at Margo's to look after Casey while Margo goes out of town at the last minute. When Tom queries as to where she's going, Margo refuses to divulge any info. Tom backs off and says he's just glad to be of service. Adam enters and turns on Margo. Why would she let Tom back into her life after everything he's done? A furious Adam leaves, but Margo has no time to go after him. Tom hopes whatever Margo is up to is more important than her son is. Meanwhile, someone lurks outside. |

When Margo tells Tom someone's life is at stake, Tom assumes that she is investigating Alec. Margo tells Tom she's working for Alec and tries to leave, but Tom pulls her into a kiss. A jealous Emily hides out side and sees the smooch. Upset, she runs to the end of the driveway. Tom wishes Margo would trust him. Margo claims she is concerned about Eddie and needs to support him. Emily watches Margo leave for the cabin just as the hitman takes out his gun. Once Margo is gone, Emily begs Tom to help her write an article for the Argus and he agrees, but remains distracted. He's worried about Margo and asks Emily to leave. Frustrated, Emily decides to take drastic measures and calls for directions to Alec's cabin. At the cabin, Eddie wonders what Alec means by saying that he does everything for him and assumes Alec is in trouble. Alec is touched that Eddie is worried about him. Their conversation is interrupted when Alec gets a call from the hitman: He wasn't able to follow Margo because Emily interfered. Alec orders the hitman not to take out anyone until he gives the go ahead, and also decides to send Eddie back to Oakdale. Eddie leaves and doesn't see Margo as she arrives to overhear their goodbye. She also hears Alec say to himself, "Goodbye, son." Margo walks in, and notes that Alec sounded so sad when he said goodbye to Eddie. Emily eavesdrops as Margo presses him to tell her why Eddie is so important to him. Finally, Alec blurts that this isn't what he had planned for Eddie. |

September 27 |
Alec and Margo argue about Eddie and her inquisitiveness. Emily spies on them and then puts some sand in Margo's gas tank. Margo storms out, but when she goes to take off in her car, she realizes it's been tampered with. Emily's pleased when Margo ends up stranded at Alec's cabin. Back inside, Margo and Alec talk about Eddie. Alec admits he'd like Eddie to inherit his company. Margo can't shake the feeling that Alec's connection to Eddie is more than business. While Alec checks the road, she reviews all that she knows about Alec and Eddie, and suddenly realizes that Alec is Eddie's father. |

September 28 |
Margo checks Alec's wallet for clues to prove her theory. Alec returns and announces that he's called his driver who will try to get through the blocked roads, but chances are that they're stranded for the night. Alec offers to sleep on the couch. Margo continues to try to get Alec to talk about his emotions. She presses that he seems to genuinely care about Eddie, and urges him to discuss his feelings. Just when it seems that he may open up to her, the driver arrives and Alec sends her off. Emily drops by Margo's where Tom is watching Casey. She asks Tom to look over her story, claiming she is worried about Alec and Lisa's reaction. Tom pronounces her article good. She lets it "slip" that Alec is away for the evening, then pretends to be sorry when Tom "realizes" Margo is probably with him. Later, Tom, who has been up all night worrying, is relieved when Margo returns. He takes her in his arms, but Margo brushes him off. Tom senses that something happened tonight. Margo agrees and "confesses" that she spent the night with Alec. Meanwhile, Alec orders Carter, the hitman, to wait until she's in place and make it happen... today. |

Alec decides to send Eddie and Georgia off to New York on business. He then makes a cryptic phone call, promising he can get her there. Margo lies to Tom and says she slept with Alec. Tom refuses to believe it and tells her that she still loves her. Lisa arrives and Margo heads out. Tom confides in Lisa what is going on, but maintains he doesn't believe Margo slept with Alec. Margo tells Hal she's close to Alec's secret, but Hal wants her off the case. He wonders if Margo is the target. He concedes to give her one more day, but puts a tail on her, without her knowledge. |

Tom tries to get some answers about Alec from Eddie. Eddie tells Tom he doubts that Margo is having an affair with Alec, since she clearly still loves Tom. Margo meets with Cass Winthrop, Deena's lawyer, letting him in on her theory. Cass advises her to confront Alec directly, but Margo is hesitant. She realizes that Georgia had Deena's file before Eddie and tracks her down. Margo says she knows that Alec is Eddie's father and tries to get Georgia to admit it. They are interrupted by a call from Alec, who wants to set up a mysterious meeting with Margo, in which he intends to tell all. |
