What We Did Today...

Having a relaxing day here so far. Mark didn't have to work today a rare treat! He got Julia's playground pool set up this morning. We had lost the main cap that holds the air in. Luckily, I still had the box it came in and there was a web site address on it. From the web site I got a phone number to call. Called and they sent a replacement cap right out at no charge. So the pool is up and ready. Rebecca is taking a nap now and Julia is watching the Pooh movie "Pooh's Grand Adventure" on the Disney Channel with her daddy now. I was watching with her until a minute ago. We are recording it too so we can watch it again and again. She has two other Pooh videos and we have enjoyed watching them many, many times.
Daddy even joined us for our pancake breakfast this morning. He started eating one that he picked up off the platter before he sat down at the table and Julia said, "Daddy, don't you need a plate?" Very cute.
Julia said her own prayer again last night. She said, "Thank you God for this day. Thank you for my toys. And thank you God for everything. Amen." In addition to "God Bless..." followed by the names of all her family and friends. It is so sweet.
Tomorrow is the dedication of the new sanctuary at our church. They will also recognise all the babies born in the past year. And present Rebecca with a little bible. Along with recognition of all the marriages and deaths. They call it Homecoming Sunday.

Julia said her first completely self-initiated and unprompted prayer tonight! Just before she went to sleep she sat up, folded her hands and said, "Thank you God for this day and Thank you God for Everything. Amen". Very sweet. She also sang all of "Jesus Loves Me". Sunday morning in her Sunday School class, the teacher asked her what she was thankful for and she replied, "I'm thankful for the company of friends". That's what Pooh says on one of the videos we have. Mark kept Rebecca while I took Julia to Sunday School which was great. Much more enjoyable without having to juggle both of them, and I think Julia does better too. Rebecca is usually really fussy at that time of the morning because it is her nap time and we usually get up earlier than usual to get ready so she is extra tired. She slept the whole time we were gone which worked out great.
Mark took pictures at a private school kindergarten graduation last week in Camilla. It turned out to be a really good shoot, 50 children, taking in over $1100.00. I am still working on getting the order out. It is very time consuming. It will go out Fed Ex tomorrow.
I am hoping to meet one of my SAHM board friends, Christy, this week. She will be in Valdosta visiting her family. She has traveled in China and also has two little ones, Abbiegail (3) and Brandon (2), so I think we will have a lot to talk about. I got a new perm in my hair today. I really like it. It was enjoyable just getting out and talking to the hairstylist, who is a friend of mine from our church, and having a break from the house and children. She also has a little girl, Rebecca, a few months older than Julia who is in Julia's Sunday School class. So we had a lot to talk about. Mark came home early from work to keep the girls for me. I was very surprised when I brought the subject up the other day of wanting to get my hair fixed that he went along and was very supportive. He has been extra helpful lately which is wonderful.
We've been having really nice weather the past couple of days. The girls and I have enjoyed playing outside, working in the yard, and swimming in their little pool. We have a pair of bluebirds building a nest in one of our bird houses. They are lovely and fun to watch going in and out with twigs and things to add to the nest. Most of our flowers are doing well. We are in desparate need of rain and we are having to water everything almost every day. Mark's garden is wonderful. We have been enjoying corn, squash, zucchini, cucumbers and a few tomatoes from it so far. There was a gorgeous pink sunset tonight and Julia noticed it before I did. She said, "Mommy, look at the pretty pink sky!"
Julia has had a small ringworm fungus on her face for a couple of weeks. We put medicine on everyday for over a week but it didn't go away. I was about to take her to the doctor when Ms. Judy, Julia's Sunday School teacher, told us to rub it with fig leaves. So we went over to the Harris's where there are two big fig trees, got the leaves and rubbed them on. The next day it was almost gone and better yet today.
Julia and I have been engaged in somewhat of a power struggle this week which is pretty normal for her age so I hear. She is sort of seeing if I really mean what I say I think. I am reading a couple of good books one by Dr. James Dobson, called the Strong-Willed Child which is helpful so far. The other is called Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours by Dr. Kevin Leman. It's pretty good too.
Rebecca is crawling all over the place. I mean she can really move! She is pulling up a lot and can walk holding on to my fingers well. She also went back and forth between Mark and I about 5 feet away from each other with very little asssitance tonight.
Well, Mark says the computer that we have been borrowing from his work definately has to go back tomorrow. I was really upset about this all day Sunday, but now feel O.K. about it. I don't know when we will be getting a new one.
Julia's friend, Will, will be coming to play in the morning so I'd need to get a little house cleaning done tonight still.

Julia did something really adorable today! Completely on her own initiative, she lined her dolls up all the way across the sofa. They were all sitting there just at pretty as you please, then she climbed up at the end of the row and sat there too holding her two Cindy Lous. She just grinned and grinned. She blended in perfect with all the dolls. It was just the most darling sight. I was so sad that the video camera is broken and on top of that I didn't have any film for my camera. I knew it would just be the cutest picture, especially on panaramic. Luckily, I got some film today and she lined them all up again tonight and I got her picture with them. She calls them her "doll family". So precious!
Rebecca and I went shopping in Albany today and Julia stayed with the Harris's. Rebecca was just wonderful and I really enjoyed the trip. She slept all the way up there so I was just enjoying some peace and quiet and time to think. I had to pick up Julia's shoes that I had to order because they didn't have her size when we went last. And also exchange a pair of pants for Mark. I couldn't resist going into my favorite store, The Apple Tree Children's Store, and they were having a 30-50% off sale. I was looking for Rebecca a birthday dress, but didn't find one. I did get Julia a cute little shorts outfit and an adorable, "I'm a big sister" shirt with matching hair bow for her the same as the little girl's on the shirt. Cute. They asked me if I wanted it giftwrapped at no charge and I said no at first, then changed my mind and said, yes, go ahead, that'll be fun for her. She was so excited when I went to pick her up and gave her the present. She tore into the wrapping threw open the box and exclaimed, "Just what I always wanted!" We all laughed and laughed. Don't know where she heard that, but the way she said it was so sincere, it was amazing.
Yesterday, we were invited over to swim at Julia's friend, Will's house. They have a very nice inground pool, and we had a really fun time. Rebecca enjoyed floating around in a baby float with a doggy head and built in play toys. She was so cute. Julia was a little clingy and whiney at first, but gradually became more and more relaxed and confident. And when it was time to go she didn't want to leave. Will's mom, Krys, is so nice. Will has been coming to our house every Wednesday for a couple of hours to play. He is really cute and he and Julia get along well.
Last week I took Julia to Miss Becky's for a couple of days while I was trying to get the dance framing done. When I left her the first day she was crying and it was really hard for me to leave her like that. I almost turned around and went back. But since I trust Miss Becky with all my heart I went on. When I got home I called and Julia was doing fine. She ended up having a really good time there with Dwight, Kayla, & Tristan. And also Madeline and Sarah were there for a while one of the days. I felt like it was a really good thing for her. We visited the Preschool again a couple of times and I just didn't have a good feeling about it. So we've decided not to put her in there this summer after all.
The Sauders have gone on vacation this week and we are babysitting Terrance the turtle and Dwights fish. I have the aquarium set up right here by the computer and I am really enjoying it. I think I'd like to have one. The turtle is a lot bigger than when I had him. It is unbelievable. I think Dwight and the Sauders have a magic touch with animals. Dwight has around 20+ guinea pigs now, all starting from the one's I gave him that we had at school last year. He sells some to the pet store in Thomasville, which they say they will buy all he can give them. They really are pretty. He has named one of them Julia and one Becca and one of Julia's babies, Julia Ann. Very Cute.
We went to the dance recital last Saturday and it was wonderful! Julia sat there mezmerized by the dancers. Both girls were perfect! Julia and I dance almost every day and it is so much fun. I got her a pink leatard and tutu to dress up with and she is just so cute in them.
I am really getting excited about the Atlanta trip which is only 2 weeks away now! I have been enjoying the SAHM board so much. It is just a lot of fun plus good advice, support, recipes, & friendship. There is a new pool at the Stone Mountain Campground and also a beach. I looked briefly for a Swim Suit in the Mall today, but the prices were outrageous. $73.00 for the one I liked, so I didn't get one. I think I'll just make do with my old one. Can't wait to check out my brother, Scott's, new pool in Indy when we get up there too. It sounds fabulous. I am really hoping Mark will go with us up there. If he decides not to, and I afraid he will because he may not be able to take off work, then I need to start checking out airfares.
We got some pictures of Emily in the mail today. Oh, I just can't believe how big she looks! And adorable. I can't wait to see her again!
