AS/A2 Level Expressive Arts
Department Prospectus
Expressive Arts (or Performing Arts) has been available at A Level at St. Benedict's/West Cumbria Catholic Sixth Form Centre since the 2000/2001 academic year. It involves detailed study of music, dance and drama and the links between the art forms. Pupils study the art forms and devise their own pieces for examination, aswell as performing their own interpretations of existing work by practitioners such as The Beatles, Christopher Bruce, Bertolt Brecht and more. Recently, the work has involved forging links with various junior schools in the area, something which has benefitted not only the schools, but also the pupils of St. Benedict's and the junior schools. Having Expressive Arts as an A Level subject has been a great benefit to the school and pupils alike. To view the department's mini-prospectus which explains things a lot better than me, please click here. The subject is taught in school by music and drama teacher Mr Kirby and dance teacher Mrs Skillen. |
