PaybackEpisode 205 (#15) - October 2 1996 For the last several years, one group, a biker gang known as the Void, ran the meth business out of Cascade. Now the Japanese mafia Yakuza is trying to move in on the action. With the apparent killing of three Yakuza members by a member of the Void, a gang war seems inevitable. Simon and the captain of the gang unit, thirty-year veteran Mike Hurley, try to prevent further bloodshed by calling a meeting of the Void and the Yakuza to talk truce. Immediately after the meeting Rory Hessman, leader of the Void, has a seizure and dies. The Void think the Yakuza is behind the death and the truce is ended. Jim suspects Akiko Keno, attorney for Yakuza leader Kenji Kadama, as lacing Hessman’s coffee with strychnine. He sets up a meet with her, but finds out she is really an FBI agent named Angela Kamura. After an explosives locker is broken into, Jim begins to suspect Mike Hurley of killing various members of both gangs in an effort to solve the gang problem once and for all. Hurley leaves Jim a videotape explaining the reason for his hatred of both gangs: Is niece was killed by meth she ingested that was made by the Void. She was also turning tricks for the Yakuza to feed her addiction. Hurley sets up the Void with the stolen C4 from the weapons locker and has them target the Yakuza headquarters. Jim gets to Hurley before he can set off the bomb he’s created and explains Akiko’s role for the FBI. However, it’s too late to stop the Yakuza and the Void from seeking vengeance.
