Not much can be said about Robo, he was built in the year 2300AD. His original purpose, from what we find out from his "brothers", was to study humans and then kill them. However, after being unoperational for an unknown number of years, he has forgotten his original purpose.
Robo is found damaged in "Proto Dome" by Crono, Marle, and Lucca. Lucca gives herself the task of repairing Robo despite Marle's fear of him killing them. After Robo is repaired and brought "on-line", he decides to help the trio as he believes that there is nothing left for him in the current future. And with a new member in the group, the quest continues...
