Frog is an unusal character of the game. Originally known as Glenn, he was turned into a frog by Magus as punishment for, I guess, daring to fight against the Mystics - a race of creatures that roamed all over Guardia in the year 600AD.
The year 600AD is where Marle disappeared to after trying Lucca's "telepod". Crono follows after her only to have her disappear again. Lucca follows an unknown time later and tells us that Marle disappeared because her ancestor, Queen Leene, was harmed in some way in 600AD. During the quest to rescue Queen Leene we first meet Frog; however, he doesn't join the team yet.
The second time we meet Frog is when Crono and two other three members of the team, are looking for the legendary sword - the Masamune. It is said that the Masamune is the only weapon that can harm Magus. It is during this time we find the reason for Frog's hatred toward Magus - for revenge for killing his friend Cyrus and for turning him into a frog.
After Frog, Crono and one of the other members of the team battle Magus, they are sucked into a "gate" (that which allows them to travel through time). They end up in a place that only helps to thicken the plot and Frog has become the fifth member of the team...
