Ding Dong!

Hello, and welcome to our home in Alaska.

This page was inspired by my mother, Darla, who started chronicling the changes done to our home over the years. If you'd like to check out all the work she has done from 1997 to 2000, visit Darla's Garden Paradise.

Mom is an avid gardener and has a very green thumb! I've never been much for digging in the dirt, but this past year (thanks to mom) I have been bitten by the garden bug as well. I have learned so much from her, and I can't wait to have a house of my own that I can work on! It's wonderful to be able to take a wild piece of land and tame it, creating anything your heart desires.
On this page you will find many photos and descriptions of the work we have been doing around our home this year, 2003. All of the planting, tending and landscaping has been done by my family. In addition to the plants and flowers, there are many garden pieces that we have, such as a swing, gates, arches and fountains. We add on each year and it just continues to get more beautiful! Our home is like it's own little sanctuary. People in our neighborhood drive by to see what we have done and we frequently get comments about how nice everything looks. One person even commented that they wished they lived at our house!

Around the House

Here is a view of the front of our house. It was gray when we moved in, but several years ago we repainted it green. The large bushes in the front are lilacs. For more views of the house, backyard, plants and surrounding areas, click above.

Flowers

Here is our wishing well that we plant each year. This year I chose red, lavender and purple/white striped petunias, red begonias and eucalyptus. To view more flowers, click above.
