To More of Mikey !!

While Mikey was at the hospital, he got to visit some of "his" special nurses in PICU.

Lots of fun, exciting things are going on in Mikey's life right now -- he is registered for kindergarten, and starts school August 21st! ~G~

He has also been fitted for his first tuxedo, which he will wear as ring-bearer in Sissy's wedding soon. (Stay tuned for pix!)



Sat, Aug 12th... Mikey and cousin Ariel

Mikey is riding "cars" with his cousin Ariel in the backyard. Mikey is full of energy right now and today was a "fun day" all day for him. Uncle Bob and "the kids" visited today.. had a pizza buffet for lunch.. saw a movie ("Chicken Run") in the afternoon and then after dinner, they watched movies and played in the yard until late. Mikey is doing SO well.. Thank You, Lord! We ARE blessed.




Monday 8-21

Today's picture has Mikey wearing his backpack and leaving our house for his first day in school.. kindergarten! We HAVE come a LONG way. Mikey was so excited before AND AFTER school.. he said it was "real cool".. the "best school around".. hehe.

When we went into the school with Mikey this morning, two of the other parents asked us if we were Mikey's GRANDPARENTS. Hmmm.... I guess I'm gonna have to get me a cap that reads, "I'm not the GRANDPA, I'm the PA". We stayed with Mikey for a little while, then left and returned to give him his 10:00am meds. He says, "I think I'm already getting smarter!" (after less than 2 hours of kindergarten.. hehe). He can't wait till tomorrow to go back. I think it was harder for us, than him. It was strange to not be WITH him. We've never had a babysitter.. not even once.. We've been with him everyday for over 5 years. This is a great day. A milestone for Mikey & Family. Thank You, Lord!




Thursday 8-24

In today's picture, Mikey is checking his oxygen saturation and heart rate after school. His oxygen level is 98% and his heart rate is 92bpm... both good numbers. Jolene, his physical therapist, should be here soon to give him his "workout". Mikey is monitored continuously at night, and we still check his numbers periodically during the day.

Although he seems a little tired at the end of the day, Mikey loves school and all of his teachers. He was disappointed that he didn't get any ice cream today. For 50 cents they can buy an ice cream treat everyday, but he said he couldn't get his teacher's attention today and missed out. I told him to use his "big voice" tomorrow!

Sunday 9-3

Mikey's big sister got married yesterday, and Mikey sure had a ball. He got to wear a tuxedo, and he got to make some more new friends. With the exception of the heat, the wedding came off without a hitch... but, dadgum, it was HOT! And Sissy's wedding must have lit a fire under Mikey's big Bubba, cuz he's announced HIS wedding plans now.

Mikey had such a great time yesterday! And he's doing SO well. We're very grateful to have had Mikey here with us for his sister's wedding and we appreciate all those who have prayed, and continue to pray for Mikey. Thank You, Father!
