Angels in Waiting

by Tammy Cochran Writer/Artist

My first Persian was an black and white bi-color that my momma
would not allow in the house. My daddy named him Skunk,
because when he was a kitten, he had a lighter streak up the center
of his back and daddy said he looked like a Skunk, so the name stuck.
I have no picture of him for viewing, but his memory is as fresh in my
mind as if he were with me right now. He has been gone to
the Rainbow Bridge many years now, but he still lives in my heart
and memories of a very special friendship!

1993 - November 30, 1996
Much later in life I had Tinker Bell come into my life, like 9 years ago.
She was a beautiful Calico that when she was laying down she
looked like a very expensive, plush throw rug. She was a special
momma's girl and loved to make biscuits in my hair and purr in my ear.
She went to the Rainbow Bridge way too soon, and left to join my
daddy that had passed only three months before, so I lost two very
special loves in a very short time. August 18th 1996 and November 30,
1996 are dates that will never be forgotten.
Tinkerbell you took a giant piece of my heart with you.

                            August 27, 1996 - March 27, 1999
A week after Tinker Bell passed, my first Simba
(My Romeo's Golden Eyed Simba),
was purchased for me by my husband to try and keep me from grieving
so much. Simba soon became my confidant, buddy, computer supervisor,
and my traveling companion. Every time I went to visit my mother in NC,
he went with me and he stayed inside where he belonged,
much to my mothers dismay.
On March 27, 1999 My beloved Simba went to the Rainbow Bridge
leaving me so heart broken and devastated that my husband said
"I will buy you 100 cats if that will help you stop crying and grieving."
I don' t think he realized what he was getting himself into.
My beloved Simba I Love You and I Miss You So Much Still!

January 14, 1999 - March 17, 2000
Then Miracle, Simba (Pink Palace In Simba's Image),
Teah, Kiara and Dusty came into my life,
and aided in easing my grief, but happiness is a fleeting thing,
and lasts only for a moment, for on March 17, 2000
my precious Angel Kissy Teah (Phairytail's Teah Mia of Prydelande)
was snatched away by the dreadful killer Hypertrophy Cardiomyopathy.
Teah and Kiara often squabbled over which one was
going to give me kisses.
Oh my darling Teah, if only I had been forewarned,
so I could have had you treated and eased you to
the Rainbow Bridge, instead of the violent, painful way you left me.
I would have done anything to have eased your pain.

This little girl was the example of the perfect Persian standard, she had yet to be named and was to make her home with  my good friend Donna Hoots. Tragedy struck and she took a stomach virus of some kind and finally she gave up the fight for life and she was taken from us. This is one of those very special babies that immediately worms their way into your heart and leaves a great big hole when they are no longer there. She had the sweetest personality from the minute she came into this world and never fretted once during all the time I was medicating her and working so feverishly to keep her alive. She was just shy of six weeks old when she had no more strength to fight any longer. I feel I let this baby down, and I miss her so, but now she is with Skunk, Tinkerbell, Simba and Teah and I am sure that they are taking good care of her until I am with them all again. Now she has no stomach ache or problems, and she can play to her hearts content. Until we meet again my black beauty, you are forever in my heart and always on my mind. I Love You Baby Girl
To all my babies that are waiting for me -
keep each other company and pray that no others
join you until I am there also. I Love You All,
I Miss You All, But You Are All Always in my Memory
and in My Heart.

  THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows,
hills and valleys with lush, green grass.
When a cherished cat passes away, they go to this place.
There is always food, water,
and sunshine and everyone is warm and comfortable.
All who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in days gone by.
They play all day with each other.

There is only one small thing missing.
Your cat is not with you, the special person who loved her or him on Earth
and had to be left behind.
So he or she'll run and play until the day comes
when he or she'll suddenly stop and look off into the distance.
His or her bright eyes will stare!
His or her nose and whiskers will twitch!
His or her ears will go up! His or her eager body
will begin to quiver! Suddenly he or she'll run from the group,
flying over the green grass,
his or her legs carrying him or her faster and faster......

You have been spotted!
And when you and your special friends meet,
you'll cling together in joyous reunion.
Your hands will again caress the beloved head (s),
and he or she'll curl up on your lap as he or she has been
aching to do for so long.
His or her happy purring will echo through the valley
like thunder and you'll gaze once more
into the adoring eyes of you precious
cat (s), so long gone from your life
but NEVER ABSENT FROM YOUR HEART...

Then you'll cross the Rainbow Bridge together,
never again to be separated.....
