Chapter 2 - Court |

The next day, I told my parents I was going somewhere with David, and wouldn't be back for a couple of hours. Then I climbed over the fence. They were ready to go, except Amy. But as she wasn't going, it didn't matter. David was ready too. Soon, we were on our way. When we got there, we saw Brenden, Glen and Owen standing out the front. They ran up to us as we got out of the car. "Hi, haven't seen you for a while," Glen said to Taylor. Zac pushed Taylor out of the way, so he could get out of the car. He nearly fell into Glen. "Are you guys alright?" Owen asked. "Yeah, we're just worried about Isaac," Zac replied. Taylor was looking around. Brenden hit him on the arm. "What ya lookin' for?" he asked. "A muderer," Taylor replied, Brenden whistled. "You know how Greg was paid to kill us?" I asked. "Yeah," Owen replied. "Well the person who paid him to do it, is the person who blamed Isaac for killing Wendy," I explained. "So you're in trouble again?" Glen asked. "Yep," Zac replied. Taylor stopped looking around. "I don't think he's here yet," he said. We began to make our way inside and sit down. We sat down along the bench with me near the aisle, then Taylor, Zac, Brenden and Glen. Owen sat behind Taylor. There was a space next to me before the aisle, but he didn't want to sit there. About ten minutes later, Sharlene showed up. She sat down next to Owen, and leant forward. "Are you alright?" she asked Taylor. "Yeah," he replied, turning his head. Zac saw her too. Then Sharlene talked to Owen. In about fifteen minutes, the court session began. People began coming in the door and sitting down. A man in a black suit sat next to me. Soon, Isaac was led out. As he came, he looked around. Then his eyes fell on something, and he began to struggle. Not violently, but very hard. He was obviously afraid of something. Taylor looked like he was going to stand up. "He's here," I heard him murmur. Then I suddenly realized that Isaac was looking somewhere near me! I looked around. Behind me, were Sharlene and Owen, and on the other side oft he aisle was Wendy's mother. The only other person, was the man sitting next to me. I looked at him sideways, and thought I saw him smile. 'Why would he smile if Isaac was afraid of something?' I thought. Then the man looked at me, and I pretended I was watching Isaac. Isaac calmed down after a while, but he didn't take his eyes off the man. About fifteen minutes into it, I felt something cold touch my leg. At first I just moved over a bit, but then it touched my leg again. This time, I looked down, but I wished I hadn't. There was a gun, touching my leg! Then I realized the men was looking at me. Then he leant over and whispered, "We're going for a little walk, afterwards." I saw Isaac's eyes widen. I was quiet for the rest of the time, I didn't dare to tell Taylor. I looked at him, then at Isaac. Isaac was looking at me. When it wa sover, we went outside. While Taylor, Zac, Brenden, Glen and Owen were talking, a hand fell on my shoulder, and the man led me away. I could feel the cold gun in the middle of my back. He led me to a Range Rover in the corner of the car park, and opened the boot. Then I noticed that Taylor had stopped talking, and was looking around for me. Zac soon joined him. In the boot of the car, there was lots of cord, and small hooks were screwed into the floor. It didn't look good. The man began to tie my wrists together with the cord. "Why don't you just leave us alone?" I asked. "Let's just say I've got to finish the job," the man replied. "Seeing as you've got those big guns and things... what happens if I call out like this: TAYLOR!" The man put his hand over my mouth. "You die," he finished. But it was too late. Taylor and Zac were already on their way over. Brenden, Glen and Owen had just left. The man shoved me in the back, and turned to face Taylor and Zac. He began to talk to them. Then suddenly, he began fighting with Taylor! Zac managed to get the gun away from him. In the middle of it, I made a run for it. When I hid behind a car, I turned to see that the man had the gun again, and was pointing it at Zac and Taylor! I didn't wait to see what happened next. I ran back to David, and told him to go back to his house. When we got there, I told Amy what had happened. "What?!" Amy cried, "But we haven't got anyone else to go to." I shrugged. "We have to wait until he gets in contact with us," I said. "But that's suicide!" Amy cried. "There's nothing else to do," I said. Then Amy and I went home. We didn't tell anyone what had happened. The next day was Monday. It was a school day. My parents made me go. I hardly talked all day. After school, I waited for my mum to pick me up, but obviously she was late. About five minutes later, a van drove up. Out stepped the man that was at court the day before! Without saying anything, I dropped my schoolbag, and ran down the street. "Wait!" the man called. 'As if!' I thought. Then he got back in the van, and came after me. |
