Chapter 3 - Fabian |

Halfway down the street, I met up with Fabian, (a boy from school). "Where you goin' in such a hurry?" he asked. My reply was lost in the screeching of brakes, as the van sped down the road after me. "They after you?" he asked. "Yep," I replied. Suddenly, just before the van caught up with us, it turned onto the footpath! Just as it crashed into a pole, I jumped on the bonnet, and Fabian nearly fell off his bike. The van's door opened, and the man stepped out. "Get the boy as well," he growled. "Run!" I shouted. Fabian's bike was a wreck, so he had to run as well. We ran back to the school. The van came after us again. We made it to the school oval, where two vans came onto the oval, cutting us off, making us back into the school fence. We were trapped, again, (well, for Fabian it was the first time). The man came up to us. "What have you done to them?" I asked. Fabian looked at me as if to say: "What the hell are you talking about?" The man came closer. "You'll find out," the man said. Then it was the man's turn to get 'the look' from Fabian. We were taken to the vans by the men, and put in the back as the van drove off. We had no idea of where we were going. "Aren't you scared?" a man in the back with us asked. "He might be, but I'm getting used to it," I replied. Fabian didn't say anything, but gave me 'the look' again. About ten minutes later, we arrived somewhere. We taken out of the van, and into a house. Inside, we were locked in a room. Inside, were Taylor and Zac! "Are you alright?" Taylor asked. "Yeah," I replied. Fabian just stood in the corner. "Oh guys, this is Fabian, Fabian, Taylor and Zac Hanson," I introduced them. "Hanson? I thought I recognized you," Fabian said. Taylor and Zac said 'hi'. "Have they got Amy yet?" I asked. "Amy?" Fabian asked. "No," Taylor replied. "Amy from school?" Fabian asked. I nodded. "What did you mean when you said you were 'getting used to it'?" Fabian asked. I looked at Taylor. He raised his eyebrows. "This, has happened before," I explained, slowly. "What?" he nearly shouted. "Amy, Wendy, Isaac, Taylor, Zac, me, and a number of other people almost got ourselves murdered about six months ago," I explained. Fabian just looked totally taken by surprise. "How?" he asked. Taylor, Zac and I looked at each other. "We were, sort of kidnapped and taken to Adelaide to be murdered," Taylor explained, and we started telling the whole story to Fabian. "Well why are they after me?" Fabian asked when we'd finished. "Well obviously they saw you with me on my getaway, and thought I'd told you everything. Anyway, you're in now, and you can't get out," I explained. "What are they gonna do?" he asked. We shrugged. Just then, the door unlocked, and Amy was thrown in. "Fabian?" she asked, "What are you doing here?" She looked from me to Fabian. "He kind of got caught up in my getaway," I explained. "Yeah, and ruined my bike," Fabian added. "This looks like it's turning out to be a reunion," Zac said, looking around. "There's a few people missing," Taylor said. "I don't think they'd bother with Brenden, Glen, Owen or Sharlene," I said. "Has any of them talked to you yet?" Amy asked. Zac shook his head. "How did you get caught? We got held at gunpoint," Taylor asked. "I saw you," I said. Amy began to tell her story, then Fabian helped me explain ours. Then Zac and Taylor told Fabian and Amy how they got caught. "So, Isaac was blamed for killing Wendy, and now he's in jail?" Fabian asked. We nodded. Just then, the door opened, and four men came in and grabbed Taylor and Zac. Then they took them out of the room, and locked Fabian, Amy and me in again. "Now what?" I heard Amy ask. We heard Taylor yell. Fabian jumped, so did I. I wasn't quite used to that, even though I'd heard it a number of times before. Amy went to the door to listen to what the men were saying. I listened too. "Why don't you just shoot us and get it over and done with?!" we heard Zac yell. "No, I want to have a bit of fun first," we heard the man say. I stepped back and told Fabian what I'd heard. Amy joined us a while later. "They've taken them somewhere," she said. I turned around, and Fabian looked from me to Amy. Then we heard the door unlock. We stepped back against the wall. The men came in, grabbed us, and took us into what would have been the loungeroom, except there was no furniture, so you couldn't really tell. In there, was the man. "Pity Greg's not here to see you again," he said. We didn't reply. "Why don't you let him go, he's not involved," I nodded towards Fabian. "He is now. I'm not stupid enough to let him run to the cops anyway," the man said. "Obviously another man added. Then the man walked over to Fabian and looked him in the eyes. "Am I?" he asked. Fabian wasn't looking into his eyes, he was staring. The man chuckled a bit, and walked away into another room. We were taken to a different room. Before the men unbolted the door, they tied our wrists behind our backsm and gagged us. Then they unlocked the room and threw us in. Taylor and Zac were there, tied up and gagged. We were locked in again. After a while, we sat up. I looked around. Amy had her eyes closed, and Fabian was watching the door, listening to some loud bangs the men were making. Zac was looking around too, and Taylor was trying to get the rope off his wrists, without success. I managed to get to the door and listen to what the men were saying. "We have to be careful, you know how much trouble they gave Greg," I heard one man say. "I'm going slow, we'd just better make sure they can't escape at all," I heard the leader say. "Do we really need the boy?" the first man asked. The other didn't reply. "Check on them," he said. I heard the first man coming to the door, and moved away quickly. He unbolted the door, and looked in. When he saw us still tied up, he left. I made my way over to Amy, who was the closest to me. I put my back to her's and began to untie her wrists. When she was free, she took off her gag and untied me. "Get him," I pointed to Fabian, and went to untie Taylor and Zac. Soon, we were all free. Taylor was listening to the men talking. We didn't say a word to each other. We watched Taylor. A while later, he stepped back. Amy, Zac, Fabian and I looked at each other, just as we heard the door unlocking again. The man that had looked in before, came in. He hesitated when he saw that we were untied. Then he grabbed Taylor and went out, locking us in again. We looked at each other again. Then Zac went to the door to listen. He soon came back. "They're going to take us somewhere soon," he said. Fabian looked at him, and Amy and I watched the door. The man soon returned and grabbed Zac. When he left, we just sat down. After about fifteen minutes, a few men came into the room, and grabbed Fabian, Amy and me. We were pushed out the door, then led into the backyard. |
