Productions
Once off, cutting edge productions take place on a weekly basis at Carfax.
The scale of the events differ in accordance with their nature.
Whatever the event Carfax remains amongst the top 20 venues in the country due to the quality of our culturally determined productions.
Each event encompasses DJ music, live performance, fine art, moving imagery and whatever the wind blew in.
You will need to see the "Real Thing" to experience the Carfax aesthetics and mysterious nuances.
Performances
We host once off events which expose elements of fine art, live and electronic music, performance, physical theatre, moving imagery and discourse.
High Art becomes accessible to the popular culture in our well curated cutting edge events.
The events become multi-media performances : we are a platform for artists from all disciplines. These art forms interface and present themselves in exciting and inspiring formats.
All this happens in our class A, other worldly venue which is a working art work in itself .
Our permanent fixtures relating to surgery and the concepts of the seven hearts (Jungian Philosophy) constantly challenge our patrons with a sense of mystery, and dissection of society.
Fine Art Gallery
The Gallery facility at Carfax is somewhat divergent from your conventional gallery confines. There are two distinctly different gallery spaces catering for different requirements. The largest space is a charming barn-like venue on the Mezzanine level which interfaces stylishly with the performance venue on the Ground floor. Unconventional work is best displayed here. The smaller gallery space is nicknamed "The Surgical Room" for its more sterile stature. Here your more "boxable" art is well presented.
We specialise in young, up and coming artists who have perfected their academic skill and produce top quality work. We keep a fine balance of conceptual and formal art. We keep the prices very low, which provides our patrons with the opportunity to buy art at very affordable prices. Our openings are always complimented by a full scale production reflecting the theme of the exhibition.
Function Venue
Carfax provides a venue for functions of any
description, including
- product launches,
- corporate functions,
- private parties,
- photo shoots,
- filming and
- external events.
We provide technical requirements according to the technical riders of the best quality. Our service is personalised and professional. Nothing is too much trouble. Our package prices are very competitive and affordable
Conference Facility
Our conferences take place in the "Surgical Room" i.e. gallery. The decor is neutral and receptive to any promotional shop dressing.
Should the conference agenda suit, the current art exhibition remains in place to add interest outside the immediate agenda to those attending.
We offer all standard
conference equipment and service, including :
- secure parking,
- telephone and fax facility for convenors,
- break out rooms,
- wash rooms,
- teas, meals and
- fully equipped bar facility.
Creators
We invite all artists to submit proposals on what they would like to stage / exhibit @ Carfax. The proposals are studied, critted and concretised into a more feasible format. All this is done with personal consultants from Carfax.
We also host workstations for our resident artists.
We appeal to the sensibility of those who are motivated by cutting edge, left of centre society. Our regular crowd can be described as mature, funky and "Full of it", who are most accurately categorised as patrons of the Arts (popular & high).
Academic Forum
At Carfax we invite discursive vibrance. We select controversial topics and design events around these. By doing this we open contentious issues in a way which has never been done before. We do not plan to change anything within the discourse, as this is not possible when maintaining a neutral standpoint. We do, however, intend to affect the method of approach most activists use, and highlight the power of art in war.
