Our teacher at physics and
astronomy Vasil Vasilev learnt first about the Venus transit in August 2003. At
the beginning of the school year, he told us about the transit and we still
didn’t know what was it, because we learnt astronomy from a short time. The
next our meeting with the transit was in January 2004 in our lesson ¹15 –
“Watching the Sun” from our textbook. Mr. Vasilev showed us the astronomy
calendar, where in the topic “Eclipses” except two Moon eclipses and two solar
eclipses, there was one transit of Venus. In spring of 2004 Mr. Vasilev took
part in a teacher’s seminar in Varna. After that we understood that we had become a part of
European net of the astronomers – amateur for calculating astronomic units. The
teacher told us that we are included in the European center for watching the
Venus transit. In May we put two posters of transit in our school. We saw the
educational package “Transit of Venus 8 June 2004”.

We visit the central and national web site.
