Biography:

I was born October 1975 in the town of Ballarat, Victoria. Australia’s population gained a point, my mother lost 8 pounds and I was immediately shoved into a pair of flared nappies and platform booties.

Ballarat - from the Italian 'Beautiful Rodent' - was a miners’ town of days past, famous for its gold and infamous for an uprising in 1854 which resulted in the deaths of thirty diggers and six soldiers.

I grew up on a farm just south of Ballarat in a town named Pokeweed. There I learned the ways of the world and decided to become a commentator for the wretched. My career began with the preparatory, 'A Robot from Zaphubb', wherein my six year-old perversity had X-15, a friendly robot starving for oil and searching the nearest planet (Earth) for the black liquor that would quench his appetite. With his processors chirping, X-15 found an oil can beside a reticent lawn mower, drank his fill and returned to his home planet where he promptly exploded.

I have since written a quarter of a million words worth of weird fiction, sci-fi, horror, fantasy and comedy, mostly in short story and novella format.

* Short story ‘Pussy In Boots’ published in Picture Magazine, #634, 2000.
* Short story ‘
The Unspoken Puppet’ published in ‘Aurealis’ - Australian Science Fiction and Fantasy magazine, #16, 1996.
* Short story ‘
Things That Go Bump in the Day’ published in Picture Magazine, #597, 2000.
* Short story ‘
Uncle Doug's Secret’ published in Picture Magazine, #617, 2000.
* Short story ‘
The Thief’ published in Utopia #1, QUT Press, 2000.
*
Book review on Greg Bear’s ‘Legacy’ published in the Melbourne sci- fi club Newsletter, Ethel the Aardvark #68, 1996.

I play bass guitar for Melissiah, gothic/fantasy artist and I have inherited a love of cartooning and drawing from my parents. I completed first year of a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing at QUT, but decided to defer to get some real writing done. My interests include English language and literature, Internet development, photography, astronomy, ancient civilizations, genre fiction, short stories, and music.

So what's happening in my life right now?

10/06/01

It has been so long since my last entry - whoops! I've been so busy I almost forgot I had a website! So what's happened? I've moved back to my home state, Victoria, (Melbourne to be more specific) got a great job with a great bunch of people, caught up with old friends, made some new friends and finally started to take my life in a new and positive direction. I'm just about to send a fresh batch of tales out to the powers that be, so stay tuned in a few months to see if any were sold. I also hope to make a couple of my works available as PDFs to download from this site, so stay tuned for that too. When I find the time I'll also launch a beta version of my cartooning site, so feel free to participate in the suggestions and discussions when its up.

01/01/01

What does this date mean in binary code? Dunno. Maybe 'Happy New Year!' So what will the year 2001 offer? I'm personally looking forward to the digitally remastered re-release of 2001 a Space Odyssey. During the year I will endeavor to launch my cartooning site, finish a couple of novels, cartoon scripts and short stories.

Xmas eve and I've managed to add those last couple of scanned images. I don't know the name of the artist who created the cartoons for Uncle Doug's Secret, Puss In Boots and Things That Go Bump In The Day, but he's the resident artist for The Picture magazine, Australia. All other cartoons and images on this site are my own. Those of you with an interest in cartooning please contact me as I am bringing together a cartooning site and I need help.

I hope to be doing some promotions for this site soon, so stay tuned. One last thing before I wish you all a very merry Xmas - does anyone know where I can get a Futurama keyring?

Well, I've finally revamped my site. I hope it appeals to you. I haven't been sending any short stories out lately as I've been concentrating my efforts on a novel (or two). I've also been creating my cartooning site which should be up and running just as soon as I replace my dead scanner. Keep an eye out in my links page and these news pages for details.

Four months after applying for a writers' grant from Queensland Arts I received the news that my application had been unsuccessful. Why? The rhetoric isn't worth wadding through, suffice to say that my application didn't contain enough commercial clichés to 'tickle their fancy'. So how do I prove that my proposal was commercially viable? Do it myself over an extended, extended period and beg for money elsewhere.
