Fromthe Color Of Water Ruchel Dwajra Zylska was born an Orthodox Jew on April 1, 1921,April Fool's Day,in poland.Later on when her and her family came to America she got rid of her Jewish name and changed it to Rachel Deborah Shilsky.At nineteen she got rid of that name when she moved to virginia,she never used the name again.As far as she was concerned Rachel Shilsky had to go in order for her to live her life.She later got married and between her and her husband they had themselves four mixed children added to the eight she already had from previous relationships.All twelve of these children are mixed with the black race.After her husband died she then got involved with another man and he later became her second husband.He later on died as well.After her second husband she never allowed herself to become involved with anyone else.Reading this book so far has made me confused.One chapter would be talking about the mother and another chapter would be talking about the son.
