The Color of Water
The Color of Water I was in awe of James McBride's writing in The Color of Water. The truth of life becomes real as you travel with James through his life's journey as a young black male and his white mother. James was always concernerd about the reality that existed between the difference of the color of his skin and that of his mother's,even though there was no difference, the minds of the world saw only that which mattered the least. His story is simply complicated, his life; an everlasting trial of the two worlds which he had struggled to not only accept but to fully appreciate. The search for who he was began. While mother never spoke of her family and where she was from James grew more and more curious. He wanted to know his routes. It would be years after that Ruth, mother, would speak, of her past, her family, her life, and her dark days.
