Case I

Suppose it is a 1 Water year and a 7 Metal person was fired in September, which is a 1 Water month.

For the year, 7 Metal resides in the Southwest – on the Arrow in the 2 Earth House – so we expected something significant as it is, and in the month of September 7 Metal is in the 2 Earth House as well.

We may now focus on the September Luo Shu, but we will probably find that certain occurences leading up to this person being fired, already happened in June, three squares earlier, when 7 Metal occupied the Northeast for the month, the 8 Earth House.

This is a non-historical example, so we do not know what lead up to the event, or do we? Well, we can deduct some interesting things from the configuration in the squares.

Notice that in the September square, 7 is double in the 2 Earth House. It probably means finances (7) are involved.
Note the Number opposite in the 8 Earth House, it is double 4.
It shows us there must be a ‘tension’ or at least tendency around finances and documents (4).

We know that 4 may have to do with documents or airplanes, amongst others. We now know that the person was fired and that he was notified by mail. 4 is also contract, so there may have been (money) issues around his contract.

For this article it suffices to note the significance of the Arrow. You will need to apply this to your own life or actual events, to find the exact ingredients involved.

For example, looking at the June square for this person, we again note a 4 Wood Star in the 8 Earth House. 8 Earth is revolution and change, moving house, or again 4 being a document or airplane.

First we establish that the person himself or herself initiated an event. We can tell, because 7 visits 4. It means the Qi of 7 will initiate the connection to 4. It shows us the person did something, either getting on an airplane or sit down and write a letter.

The person could have been on a holiday and he may have met another person. He may have started a relationship. This is indicated by the Number 1, that we find opposite in the 2 Earth house.

In case our person was a woman, she may have fallen pregnant (1) while on holiday and this pregnancy may have something to do with her being fired. Perhaps she was not fired even, but choose herself to quit her job and she notified her employer by mail.

It is also possible that the person moved home in June, again because the opposite Number is 1, so in relation to a partner or marriage.

Having come this far, we need to know which of two possibilities is the right one:

- person writing a letter in June will be fired in September.
- person writing a letter in June is in connection to new relationship.

In the next section I will show you why the second option is probably true, although – again – this is a non-historical event done for the sake of exploration.
