Monday 01/01/01 (Happy New Year)
Alice advises Austin to use his inner strength to save Greta. Later, Greta and Austin are visited by a man named Mr. King, from the planet of love. He's there to provide Greta and Austin with guidance. He wants them to bring a child into this world...a 'messenger' to guide and teach people on earth... Belle and Brady goof off on the train tracks. In the distance, a train whistles. Belle tries to hop down from the tracks, but her foot is stuck! Shawn is terrified as he looks at his baby brother who appears to be turning blue. Hope takes a look and says he seems to be breathing alright, which is a good sign. She guesses that the light reflecting off the blanket made the child look blue. Hope calls Lexie, who soon arrives and examines the baby. Everything seems to be okay until Hope realizes he really is turning blue! John is tired of fighting with Marlena, and he thinks the only solution is for them to make love. She resists at first, but then gives in. Afterwards, a shirtless John gets up to pour her some water, but when she sees his Phoenix tattoo, she is clouded with painful memories. Later, Shawn calls John to tell him that something's wrong with the baby, and they're taking him to the hospital... Bo arrives at Ian's pub, but when the mystery woman hears his voice, she panics. She grabs her daughter and rushes out the back door, not wanting Bo to see them. Bo tells Ian that he's in Ireland to investigate the DiMera holdings. Iam says they'll have to discuss this later. Bo leaves out the back door, where tragedy strikes

Tuesday 02/01/01 
Hattie drops by to see "Dr. Steiner." she tells him she's almost ready to go through with the surgery. Rolf uses reverse psychology to shake her up a bit. He tells her she needs to lose more weight and that maybe she isn't serious about this procedure. Hattie is offended and threatens to walk out... Jennifer watches as Declan and Walter throw an unconscious Bo in a pit inside an abandoned building. Jen can't help wondering what Bo's gotten himself into this time. Later, Bo wakes up and demands they release him, but the two guys say they're keeping him captive until he learns his lesson... John and Marlena, still on bad terms, drive to the hospital so they can be there for baby John. As luck should have it, they run out of gas. John lashes out at Marlena and blames her... She was supposed to fill the car up this morning. The argument intensifies, and we see shades of John's mercenary self emerge... Hope and Lexie rush baby John to the hospital, where he is examined by Dr. Maxwell. Hope is a basketcase, but Lexie comforts her. Maxwell emerges from the E.R. and tells Hope that her baby's condition is critical... Belle is freaking out because she can't pry her foot loose from the train tracks. Brady tries to help, but it's really wedged in there. The train inches closer as Belle sees her life flash before her eyes...

Wednesday 03/01/01
Bo tries to climb out of the pit, but to no avail. Later, Jennifer arrives with food and water. She disguises her voice, and keeps her distance so Bo won't realize it's her. Bo opens up, trying to win "this woman's" sympathy. He tells her that he's having family problems, and his baby is in trouble. Jennifer's interest piques. Bo starts to recognize her voice, and Jennifer decides it's time to get out of there... Brady finally frees Belle's foot from the train tracks just as the train goes whizzing by. But Belle hits her head on the iron bar Brady had previously used to try to help her. Brady panics when he feels a dent in his unconscious sister's skull. He prays there isn't any brain damage. He starts to carry her to the hospital, until John and Marlena happen to drive by. They are horrified when they see a limp Belle in Brady's arms. Marlena blames Brady for this as John speeds them to the E.R... Lexie assists the doctor in O.R., but it doesn't look good for baby John. He's got a hole in his heart that needs immediate repair. Meanwhile, Shawn does his best to comfort his mom in the waiting room. Hope is upset that Bo isn't there and no one can seem to find him. Later, Lexie comes out of the O.R. with tears streaming down her cheeks. She tells Hope that she's afraid all they can do now is pray. Hope, Shawn, and Lexie head to the chapel to say a prayer for baby John. But will he pull through?

Thursday 04/01/01
Greta ultimately decides not to allow King to make her the mother of the "messenger." Austin is relieved, but Greta starts to second guess herself. King wishes the two good luck, because they'll certainly need it. Later, Greta and Austin receive an envelope which tells them they can sleep peacefully. When they awaken, they can begin the next phase of their journey... Chloe calls Philip and says they need to talk. An energized Philip sprints over to her house and climbs up a tree to her bedroom window. She slams the window in his face, but later opens it up. Before she gets the chance to tell him anything, the branch gives way and Philip crashes to the ground. Chloe rushes outside, then tells Philip that after he serenaded her, she wanted to kiss him. And with that, she plants a kiss on his lips... Victor firmly tells Kate that she's got to convince Lucas to give Sami custody of Will. It's their only hope. Kate, however, still isn't sold on the idea. She has a plan of her own that involves Angela Moroni... When Sami and Brandon get a moment alone, they say they love each other... As friends. Brandon then tells Sami that Kate and Victor were at the restaurant, and they were toasting champagne. That can mean only one thing... They were celebrating Sami's death... Nicole is less than thrilled when Roman drops by. He knows she's figured out who killed Franco, and he wants some answers now. Nicole is really feeling the pressure. She pretends to be frightened and "opens up" to Roman, saying she's scared that Lucas is going to kill her. Suddenly, they both react as they see Lucas standing in the doorway, totally blown away...

Friday 05/01/01
Nicole thinks quickly when Lucas returns home and hears her say she's afraid Lucas is going to kill her. She covers, but Lucas is still worried. Sami calls and accuses Lucas of having the calls forwarded to Italy, but Lucas swears he's in Salem... And he'll prove it. Lucas puts Roman and Will on the phone with Sami. Meanwhile, Lucas tells Nicole if she ever betrays his secret, she's a dead woman. Later, Nicole starts to figure that Victor must know about this. And if that's the case, she's even closer to getting her five million back... Sami is thrown for a loop when she calls Kate's phone number, but Lucas answers... In Salem! Sami thought the calls were being forwarded to Italy. Lucas proves that he's in Salem by putting Will on the phone. After they hang up, Sami decides she's got to go home to Salem today. Brandon, however, isn't going to let her travel alone. Angela heads to the cottage to find Brandon packing. He tells her he's escorting Sami home, but he'll be back soon. Angela doesn't want to wait. She wants to go to America with them! John orders Brady to tell him what happened to Belle, but Brady refuses. This infuriates John, but Brady just storms off. Meanwhile, the news isn't good about Belle. She's got a skull fracture and her brain is swelling. They will try to treat it with drugs, but if that doesn't work, they'll have to do surgery. Marlena is terrified. Shawn does his best to comfort her, and this really touches Marlena. Later, the doctor tells Marlena and John that they have to operate... The news for Hope's baby isn't good either. Lexie is there for her friend, but it isn't the same as having Bo there. Lexie offers words of encouragement, but just when we think Hope is finally starting to be optimistic, the doctor emerges with a look of dread on his face...
