Marine Biology Field Study
Golden Gardens - May 20, 2004

This is a sea cucumber, relaxing after having been handled by humans.

I think these are nudibranchs or something. It's hard to spot them but they were very intricate.

During our lunch, I saw a line of planes, three of them, coming from the south. After a break, three more came. And more. There were nine in a row... it was weird. Apparently they're shipping planes for the Air Force. That's the first "plane train" I've ever seen.

Alright, so maybe I photo edited this one a little... but the effects almost make it surreal.

More pretty landscape. I love trees.

You can't tell, but there's a crow hiding out there. Maybe if you look hard enough.

These are some beautiful trees. Upon inspecting it, however, this one up front reminds me of Donald Rumsfeld.
See? They're doing the same whoosy magician hand movement. Haha!

I got knee-deep in sand and tried to do a facial sculpture. It was kind of hard... I got the nose and facial shape down well but that was about it.

Dead crab. It was gigantic, and the insides looked... interesting. Mwah.

This is the home of a clam that spit a stream of water literally 10 feet in the air. Every time I saw one of these jets, I was too late for pictures. It kicked ass, though.

Blasted Barnacles!

A stream cutting through the rocks and sand, producing all sorts of life. Look how it cuts through the tightly packed sand -- pretty cool if you ask me.

The red rock seemed so foreign compared to the rest of everything on that beach. It seems so alien, lifeless, dead, firey, rusty... but right next to it was a thriving mossy green rock. The 'foreign' rock is also more geometric than the softly shaped organic rock. Also, notice how the one on the left is almost square, and the one on the right is making a pentagram. Most interesting. I call it "A Union of Opposites" -- to me, they represent the male and female forces of nature, in a 'terrestrial' form. It's beautiful.

I found this lone little duckling all alone amongst other adult mallards today. It was so adorable... and the contrast of colors (or union?) is beautiful.

A little caterpillar crossing the path. There were three others doing the exact same thing... they're migrating!

Photo edited for clarity. Behind it is a train. This is how I want to see all of nature -- bright and vibrant.

Behind this little dead grassy park was a circle of tall, thin trees. Enclosed in this circle was a patch of sand... this place drew me towards it for some reason. I wanted to go in there and just sit and relax and enjoy nature, but we had to leave.

Photo edited for effect -- I did NOT create that glowing aura around the tree. Most eeenteresting!

In essence, I seized the day. I came, I saw, and I conquered. :P After I wrote that I danced around and I said "I now claim this land! Mwahaha!" God, I'm such a dork. :o)

My new friend Billy added the text on the bottom. When I saw this picture, I immediately thought "Owned!" so, here is an owned picture. You may use it if you like. :o) And you may credit me, if you like.
