June 2000 : The Obligatory "Coming Soon" Image (actually
it's already here)...

1) Fuel Loads:
Please only take as much fuel as you will need. Landing these
aircrafts at high weights can be a real problem and rate of
climb can be very poor at high fuel loads. Some of these aircrafts
(especially the A330s, A340s and 747 can carry huge fuel loads
(over 100 tonnes) that are never likely to be needed so make
the most of the lower take off weights and a gentle landing!
2) Take-Off
: These flight models are as realistic as
I can make them for EuroDirect operations. Some, like Sami
Puro's A320 and A321 are virtually untouched because they
are perfect already! Others are especially configured (such
as the Central European A330-200). One of the down - sides
of going into this much detail is a quirk in FS98 (and FS2K)
flight dynamics which means you will have trouble pulling
the nose up on take - off. This seems common on all my aircrafts!
The solution is to add a notch of trim (Make sure the Numlock
key is off and hit the '1' key a few times). Once you know
the aircraft you can perfect the art of taking off without
touching the joystick or yoke!
3) Check Out
the Weather Before You Leave the Ground!:
Hey, I know it's obvious, but if the manual says fly at FL310
but when you get there you have a 60kt headwind, ignore the
manual. Likewise if flying lower will give you a handy tail
wind use it! Saves our airline virtual money in virtual fuel
bills! Also saves time in the cockpit (but claim the hours
anyway!)
4) Question
Me!: I get things wrong every now and then!
If it does not fly like you expect it to, or if you just want
to give me the benefit of your knowledge and EuroDirect flight
time (I wish I could fly these aircrafts more often) please
let me know through the coffee room. I don't want to plug this
to death but I would really appreciate knowing what you think!
That's all for now...
Ta very much and Ciao!
Chris.
