Music
I listen to a variety of music: instrumental, rock, pop, new age except jazz, blues and classical. Don't know how to appreciate the latter. Makes me sleep whenever I listen to them. I usually need a little adrenaline rush to think better when doing my work. For your info, I usually look like the kangaroo on the right when at work. Haha. You can click on the link to hear a short intro of the song which may take some time to load. :)
Pop
I grew up with pop music of the 80s and that time was the beginning of the boyband era with the emerge of Backstreet Boys (BSB), New Kids On The Block (NKOTB), etc. I still listen to BSB which somehow manages to stick together after all these years. Although they have many, many songs, I like Drowning and The Call best – the two main reasons why I bought their Black and Blue CD. Unfortunately I only recorded NKOTB songs on cassettes which are nowhere to be found.
Besides boybands, who can forget Debbie Gibson and our King of Pop – Michael Jackson. I bought Debbie’s CD recently. I prefer her slower tempo songs No More Rhyme and Lost in Your Eyes and listening to them bring back lots of my old school days memories.
Rock
My first CD that I bought was The Vault by Def Leppard a decade ago. Frankly speaking, I only bought it for two songs: Love Bites and When Love and Hate Collide. The rest are not too bad too.
My first casette tape was Crossroads by Bon Jovi. I regretted not buying the CD now because (a) CD lasts longer (b) Tape is out-of-date and small therefore easy to be misplaced. Yup, I can’t find that one too. I enjoy Always and It’s My Life which makes me want to rebel – haha.
Instrumental
I first got to know S.E.N.S from a colleague of mine. S.E.N.S is a japanese duo group which makes music using keyboards and added sound effects. Their music is quite often dream-like and dramatic. I listen to Forbidden Love and Wish whenever I want to relax. I tried to play them on the piano but they don't come out half as good. :(
New Age, etc
When my friend introduced me to Gregorian music, I was a little skeptical. I've heard of the group before but my first impression of them was that they are a chanting cult and relay some satanic messages in their music. After listening to them, my fears are unfounded. In fact I like all the songs from their CD, Masters of Chant, Vol. 4. My favourite is Unbeliever and The Gift.
The favourite CD that I bought so far is the compilation CD called Biggest where it feature songs that hit numero uno in the music charts. The best part is that it contains more than two songs that I like - Lonely, Lonely No More and Untitled. I've been trying to figure out the title of the last song played in a music video shown on tv. Now I know why I couldn't recall it at all. :P
