Dora Lee PATTON [Parents] was born 29 Jan 1877 in Hardin County, Illinois.. She died 18 Sep 1953 in Gallatin County Illinois. The cause of death was diabetes. She was buried in Westwood Cemetery, Gallatin county, Illinois. She married OXFORD george elmer 25 Nov 1900.

Mrs. Dora L. Oxford, 76, widow of the late Elmer Oxford and a native of Hardin county, died suddenly at her home in New Shawneetown at about noon Friday.
Mrs. Oxford was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Patton and had lived in Hardin County until about 30 years ago. Death was due to diabetes and heart trouble. The woman who had been living with her had gone home for a time; so she had prepared her own dinner and was at the table eating when a neighbor came in, while she was talking with the neighbor, Mrs. Oxford suddenly threw up her hand and fell over dead.
Survivors include five sons, Orval Patton, near Cave-in-Rock, Teddy Oxford, Ridgeway, Selby Oxford, Flint, Michigan, Lowell Oxford, New Shawneetown, IL and Raymond Oxford, Harrisburg, Illinois. Two daughters, Mrs. Hester Lackey, Wood River and Ruby Anderson, New Shawneetown. 10 grandchildren-2 sisters, Mrs. Joe Blaine, Cave-in-Rock, IL and Mrs. Lizzie Brownfield near Cave-in-Rock.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist church in New Shawneetown with Rev. Arthur Austin as the minister in charge.
Interment was in the Westwood cemetery, near Shawneetown. Among those who attended the funeral were her sisters, Mrs. Blaine and Mrs. Brownfield and many other relatives from here, but Mrs. Oxford's son, Orval Patton was unable to attend the funeral because of illness. He is a patient in the veteran hospital at Marion, IL.
