Welcome to my sunny spot on the web, created from my sunny home in Florida. Since it's always so pleasant here, I enjoy boating on the river near my home and I love to go saltwater fishing in the Atlantic, in the Keys, in the Bahamas ... anywhere there are fish! When I decide to go fishing I check the weather at the Canaveral buoy #41009 via our NOAA radio and then I'm off on a fishing adventure.
![]() HISTORY OF OUR BOATS ![]() ![]() Our first boat (above, left), a 1982 24-foot Regal, was a nice boat but the engine kept dying and leaving us stranded, luckily it was usually within 100 yards of the boat ramp. For the year we had it, it spent more time in the shop than in the water. I started fantasizing about a boat that would run and float - at the same time - so we bought a 1990 Regal, 26 1/2 feet long, with twin stern drives and a nice cabin, complete with a head and a galley. It's a great boat for river cruising and overnight stays since it can sleep six ... and it runs great! The boat's original name was the last name of the previous owners so we needed to change it. Since the family business is jewelry/pawn shops, I thought Float-A-Loan would be a good name. When we couldn't get the lettering to fit with the hyphens, we decided on Float Aloan instead. Maybe if we'd researched our name in the Virtual Relettering area of the Marine Graphics site, we'd have had more luck making it fit!
![]() ![]() In the picture on the left you can see our dock being built (compliments of my mom and step-dad since they are the ones who live on the river). The picture on the right was taken from the "party deck" which is a roomy landing halfway down the stairs leading to the dock and boat lift. The boat had just taken it's final journey from the marina where we had kept it until the new dock was finished.
Above is the boat tied up to the pilings before the boat lift was working, one of the boat on the lift and the last one (below) is of me, the Captain, during one of our cruises down the river.
I highly recommend that you visit
