  • Seniors Matter: Honours keep rolling in for decorated veteran Retired captain John Langton has another honour to add to a long list of achievements in a stellar military career. Highly decorated for his service in the Indian Army in the Second World War and for his ranks in two Crusades-era medical orders, Langton became a Knight Commander of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem. He was already a Commander of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. All these military and medical medals are quite appropriate for Langton, because while he wasn’t in much immediate danger in the wartime Ordnance Corps or supply service in Assam, India, a Japanese booby trap after the war cost him his left hand in British North Borneo. He also has an Indian independence medal. The Kingston Whig-Standard, Canada - 2 Jun 2003
