PHOTO ALBUM:
This site is under construction, here are just a few photo's to view until things are completely up and running:
Headquarters St. Albans, VT Nov. 1999 (D. Bishop)
A Southbound Amtrak F-40PH passes under new catenary and over the CV (NECR) yard in New London, CT May 2000 (D. Bishop)
The Roundhouse in White River Junction, VT Nov. 1999 (D. Bishop)
The Roundhouse in New London, CT May 2000 (D. Bishop)
For a brief period of time in the summer of 1991 the CV ran 4 trains a day into and out of New London, CT instead of the usual 2. This resulted in impressive gatherings such as this one at the engine facility under the I-95 overpass. (D. Bishop)
Providence & Worcester pulls out of the CV yard in New London just as a CV southbound local pulls in. The P&W operates a push/pull operation on the Amtrak Shoreline. July 1991 (D. Bishop)
K&L Feed switcher No. 1, formerly CV No. 8081 idles on a cold winter day in January 1990 at the K&L Feed Company in Franklin, CT. (D. Bishop)
GT GP-9 no. 4136 is part of a trio working a southbound freight over the Smith Cove Trestle in Quaker Hill, CT (Harrisons) on a hot summer day in 1991.
This is probably the first roundhouse to be constructed in Connecticut since the 1950's. The Eastern Connecticut Railway Museum in Willimantic is building a beautiful new roundhouse on the footprint of the original New Haven structure. It is adjacent to NECR tracks just north of town. July, 2000 (D. Bishop)
The UBS Lumberyard switch in Quaker Hill, CT. Pictures like this are the result of boredom caused by a late train arrival at the perfect photo location. Occasionally, pictures like these go on to become album favorites. August 1990 (D. Bishop)
The CV maintenance of way vehicle no. 80 30 and "Rowdy", a long time and dedicated CV fan. CV maintenance crews were working on the Smith Cove trestle in Quaker Hill in the Spring of 1990. (D. Bishop)
The CV track truck, stationed in New London made frequent trips up the CV mainline until the New London engine and office facilities were moved to Palmer, Mass. Here the track truck passenger waves to the "waterbound FRN's" (as we were called) while making its way across the Smith Cove trestle in Quaker Hill, CT. (D. Bishop)
MANY MORE PICS TO COME SOON!
