Mamacoke Modelworks Products:
Mamacoke Modelworks is a new company specializing in kits directly related to the Central Vermont Railway and other New England Railroads. Over the next few years Mamacoke expects to release kits providing all of the accessories and instruction needed to produce a museum quality model. The New London Yard and Engine facilities are being considered for the companies first major project. For now Mamacoke presents 2 small kits which would compliment any model railroad:
Elm Street Crossing Shanty, (St. Albans Vt.):
" The switchman at Elm Street crossing has one ball showing. Cone shaped balls were unique to the CV. With one ball up, clearance was given to freights into or out of Italy yard......" "Two balls cleared passenger trains from the north; three balls from the south. The passenger main is the track nearest the shanty from which the tracks to the engine yard branch out. Four balls gave clearance to trains on the Richford Subdivision which curve off behind the section house." (From Central Vermont Railway, Operations in the Mid-Twentieth Century, Edward H. Beaudette, Carstens Publications, Inc. 1982. A. L. Thomas, Photo.)
Elm Street Crossing:
Mamacoke is designing a model of the Elm Street Crossing Shanty. The prototype (shown below) captures the character of the structure shown in the photo above.
The finished product will include signal tower and other details depicted in historical photographs. Kits and finished models will be available.

On-Line Outhouse:
Anyone who models the era of steam must also remember that it was the era of the outhouse. Outhouses appeared in all human environments both rural and urban. Many worksites along rail lines were established by first digging out a good deep hole for the outhouse.
This one-seater model features a roll of toilet paper.
The crescent moon on the outhouse door represents the pleasure people once took in a midnight trip to the outhouse on a clear crisp January night.
This CV work crew is well taken care of at a work site near Windsor, Vt. Thanks to the new outhouse conveniently located nearby.
The outhouse will be available both as a kit (a great one-night project!) and fully assembled. Contact the Webmaster for details.
