Prayer Requests
January
2001
We have felt prayer needy. While visiting our parents Christmas we were
hit hard by the Arkansas ice storm. A tree sized limb fell across our van
shattering the windshield, denting in the passenger side of the van, and
stabbing the van through the dash--through the electrical system all the way
through to the floor board. Afterward the uncovered van went through the
melting of ice and then later in the week several inches of snow. It turns
out that Friday (the same day we learned about the new judge in Pune) we learned
that our insurance company was giving us a fair settlement. Please pray
that we can find another van with enough seating for the addition of Carlee's
car seat, and pray as we look that we will find a good van. We are not in
a position to buy something very new. We are excited about the purchase of
a different vehicle. We had no heat in the old van and the
air-conditioning was no longer working. God has ALWAYS been so faithful to
give us the right vehicles! No doubt he will this time, too.
Pray as we look at rewriting the home study. We are thinking of searching
out a new social worker to do this.
Pray for us to have favor with God and man throughout this adoption.
Pray that SOFOSH would communicate with our agency and with us concerning Carlee's
situation.
Pray for the new judge--that he will process children and quickly to their
families. Pray that politics will not play a role in placing children with
families who love them and want them.
Pray for Carlee's health and stimulation. She will be three in April.
Please pray over our not growing weary and discouraged. Discouragement has
been huge in this adoption because we are into our tenth month.
Remember, please, that we have to raise our funds for travel. This is a
big prayer request as well. Since we have INS approval things could at
some point begin to move quickly.
The van situation has kept us very busy for the past two weeks and will possibly
for another two weeks. This has kept us from the adoption business and
from our plans of contacting the Lions Club on Caleb's behalf. Continue to
pray for Caleb, please. He has been very sick for nearly a month and we
have not been able to keep his conformer in the eye socket. When he has a
cold he cannot wear it successfully.
We love each and every one of you and know that you are lifting us up before the
Father's throne! We sincerely appreciate all of you!
Sending our love and blessings,
Randy and Ann McCauley
Pray for Carlee's health
Pray that she will learn to walk. It is not unusual for a young blind child in her situation to be unsteady or have balance problems.
Pray that Carlee will be special to someone who will impart good things into her life, and pray that she will have the favor of God and men.
Pray for the judge who will handle our case in India. Pray that he will overlook our family size and our income and place Carlee with us.
Pray for our income to pass the final tests with INS when it is time to issue Carlee's visa.
We learned this month about a law in Pune, India which requires a parent
to travel and pick up children three and over. This was not something
that we were told about -- it was something we stumbled across as we were reading ahead
in our India adoption Guidebook. This would not have applied to
us had our social worker moved quickly, but since he did not, we have less than six
months left before Carlee turns three. This means (by our adoption
agency's recommendation) that we are officially traveling to India to bring our daughter home. We are looking at expenses that could top
$8000-$10,000 dollars that we must raise in the next four or five months.
Pray for the approval of our home study. The dossier fee which is $2,205 of the $5,649 is now due.
After talking with the social worker this week we learned some new information. What we do know at this point is that Madhura (Carlee) has been proposed to another family in India. The social worker assured us that she would fully represent our commitment to adopting Carlee--including the showing of our state approved home study to S.O.F.O.S.H. in India. She will also tell them that we will press on in our adoption process. We are committed to this child until she is in our home or until they give us evidence that she is in another home. At this time Madhura (Carlee) is still in orphanage care. No one has told us, "NO," and we still believe that she is our child.
Another, even larger matter for prayer, should be directed toward the Indian judge of this particular region in India. In the past few months he has denied or held up the adoption of 27 children. There is great heart-ache and frustration on behalf of the families who were--all but travel ready. My heart cries for these 27 children who are being denied homes. There are no specific reasons why the judge has been difficult. He would surely have denied our case because of income. Perhaps the Lord has been at work on our behalf in a greater way than we realized. The only explanation for the judge's attitude is apparently due to his forthcoming retirement after the first of the year. There is a belief that he denied families because he did not want adoptions pending after he retired. So, was the delay in our adoption of Carlee a blessing in disguise? We aren't sure--but it appears that way to date. Please pray for these families that are hurt and troubled as our agency continues to work to bring their children home. And pray that God would move on the heart of this judge or move him out. Surely 27 children and Carlee would be better off in homes with families who want them rather than in orphanage care!
Pray that we will not have to suffer long. This is LONG suffering. (Nine months so far--and no end in sight--) It is funny how things have turned out. The social worker wants us to council with the other families who are waiting. Randy (by the wisdom of God) told her that we had been adoptive parents for fifteen years and understood the delays, obstacles, etc . . . and that we had learned to press-on in spite of circumstances. She asked if she could have the other families call or email us:) The Lord works in mysterious ways!
Also, pray for Caleb this month. The ocularist
believes that we should see a doctor in Dallas who is a leading specialist
in the field of Caleb's empty eye socket. We can no longer graduate in
size with Caleb's conformers because we can not go past the lids which are
fused together on each side. Surgery is never recommended for a child
his age (because of scarring that will not promote growth) but we may not
have a choice if we are to go bigger with conformer therapy. We are
NOT sure surgery at his stage of development would ever be the right thing
to do. This doctor might know of new and innovative techniques.
We do not have the money to take Caleb to see this specialist. We are
going to approach the local Lions Clubs first of the year.
Bless the Lord! He has proven to be the one in control of adoption. We love you all -- thank you for praying for the Social Worker!

We are making a couple of videos of Carlee for those who would like to see her. They will be copies of our one video made in March of this year. If you would like to see the video or show it to a group just let us know and we will put you on a list to receive the video on loan.
