FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD JARED BAUM made his first drysuit dive in Dave Hill's SuperLite 17 and Ray Tucker's Amron suit. Ray (yellow shirt) and Gene Ritter (wetsuit) got him rigged in the only-slightly-too-big rig.

JIM BOYD POSED with the future Ritter family, as Gene is engaged to Jared's mother, Beth. Gene is a commercial diver in New York City, and Beth is a scuba diver. Chuck Thompson got the photo (above right) of Jared in the "hero pose." Gregory Shamp lent a hand with the SuperLite (below left), and Jared seemed just a bit overwhelmed by the full rig (below right).

JARED HANDLED THE GEAR just fine, though, and posed on the ladder (above) and then topside after his dive with Mom Baum (below left) and Ray Tucker (below right).

NEXT INTO RAY TUCKER'S Amron was Harrison (above left), who participated in a "photo op" with the MkV. Then Mike Imor tried the SuperLite rig (below).
