About This Site

Sometime back in the 1980s, I was lucky enough to attend a performance by a great R&B group from New Orleans called the Neville Brothers.  I really enjoyed the show, and since my brother Rick lived in New Orleans, I asked him about the band.  He told me about seeing them open for the Rolling Stones at the Superdome.  At that show, the crowd tried to boo the group off the stage.  What a shame!  Unfortunately, there are many fans of rock and roll who have no knowledge or appreciation for the fact that the roots of their favorite music lie in the blues.  That is why this website was created--to teach people about how rock and roll came from the blues in hopes that they will also come to love the music of great artists like Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Robert Johnson.

Dedication

I want to thank my wife Liz for her contributions to this website.  In her role as Dr. Jaz, she has contributed much to the development of the AKA Blues Connection, including her computer expertise and creative input.  And she has supported my work on this project in many other ways.  I also want to point out that it was her interest in the music of Huey Lewis & The News which led to the Stagger Lee Files which are featured in this site.

Liz, thank you for all your help, moral support, and
patience.  My work on this website has been a labor
of love and I dedicate it to you in honor of all the years
of love that you have given me.
