Training Orientation

This took place in Max's Restaurant, Greenbelt, Makati on January 23, 1999. Thirty participants attended the orientation and seven confirmed for training by enlisting and paying the training fee.

Basic Mountaineering Course

BMC was held in Martinez Farm at Novaliches from January 23 to 24, 1999. First day ran through with introduction of new (additional) participants, interview, lectures and demonstrations on preparation, equipment, organizing a climb, trail movements, and camp management. Of course, the night ended with the well-known "socials." Second day started very early with hot coffee and bread, followed by physical warm-up and diagnostic run and exercises. Then after a grueling run and late breakfast, BMC resumed with a lecture and demo on ropemanship. Of course, no one can escape the written exam. After the recap, comments, Q&A , and pre-climb for the first minor climb, we all adjourned.
