Helpful Tips If you've been online, then we're sure you've heard your share of
horror stories about shopping online. Like buying anything, whether it's online or not,
there is always the notion of buyer beware.
We've shopped online on many occasions
from the big websites
such as CD Now, Ticketmaster, as well as smaller record stores online to look for possible
stock. In all of our dealings, which number over 100, we have only had two bad
experiences. The first bad experience, was when we purchased an item from Poland. After
several months the item never came. We repeatedly emailed the seller (goes by the name
Darek) and got no response. This was the first time that we've bought anything from Eastern
Europe and probably our last.
The second bad experience was when we sent payment to Germany
in the form of cash. However, in this situation, the seller was a trusted seller.
Unfortunately, the post office can't be free from blame all of the time. In this case, we
suspect that the payment was lost in transit. If you've ever sent a letter, this is
nothing new, and unfortunately cannot be avoided under certain circumstances.
There are ways to avoid your payment getting lost including
sending cash in registered mail, and concealed in a thick envelope This requires that your
letter be signed for before it is delivered. Registered letters sent from the United
States to other countries is $7.25. Since this can be very expensive, we suggest using
this option at your discretion. We use this option on payments greater than $100, except
when sending to England and Japan.
Though these situations
may sound like nightmares, you should
not fear buying online. Always ask questions if you are not sure and most importantly,
trust your instincts. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.
