11/05/1999, Friday - Phrases. Potty.
(age: 2 years, 11 months, 16 days)
Christopher's personality continues to grow. He now makes a certain face when he talks about an unknown
(Like saying "I don't know why that happened"). He raises his left cheek, squinting his eye and pulling
his mouth to one side. Hard to describe, but believe me, it's pretty cute.
One of his favorite phrases now is "Just perfect". When ever he's asked "how are you"
or "how is your food", etc. his positive response is "just perfect". If he doesn't like something
he'll emphatically say "Not perfect".
Tina is trying a new tact in Christopher potty training. She's putting him into regular underwear or sometimes
training underwear that's merely more padded. He just wasn't getting it with the pull-ups. Those absorb all the
urine, so it's not a problem to him. Now he makes a bit of a mess which gets his attention. So far it seems to
be going well. I think Tina's going through about five pairs of underwear a day. Whew!
Christopher has some "Batman" pajamas that were handed down. He really loves them, especially since I've
told him about all Batman's cool cars.
11/10/1999, Wednesday - Christmas Train. Daddy Blessing.
(age: 2 years, 11 months, 21 days)
Christopher found an electric train advertisement. It's a Christmas train with Santa Clause and everything.
He is absolutely in love with it and now he carries that page of the catalog everywhere he goes. He even took it
to school and showed his teacher and all his classmates. He explains how you can't touch it and how it goes by
itself when you push a button. He also talks about how he wants it on his list. But I'm afraid he's not going to
get it. It's $129.
On Monday, Tina asked the kids to tell her one blessing while they were having lunch. Christopher made my day.
He said:
"God blessed me with Daddy"
11/16/1999, Tuesday - Birthday plans. Monkey Story.
(age: 2 years, 11 months, 27 days)
Christopher is wearing real underwear most of the day and not having too many accidents. It's slow, but coming
along.
Birthday plans are underway. Christopher will be three on Saturday. We're having a Thomas the Tank Engine party
for his little friends. We got a refrigerator box and we're painting up an almost lifesize Thoms train. He is very
excited about it all and is constantly adding items (usually trains and cars) to his list of things that he wants.
He even has clippings from christmas toy catalogs that he carries around.
Christopher has been pretty sick the last couple of days. Fever and sore throat. He'll be fine, but I think
it might explain the next story. Yesterday, Christopher came
to Tina with this story:
He said: "When I was a little boy, monkeys came down from the ceiling and licked my face. It tickled."
Tina: "Where'd they go?"
Christopher: "They went away forever."
11/20/1999, Saturday - Third Birthday!!!
(age: 3 years, 0 months, 0 days)
We had a great birthday with Christopher. See his third birthday
page for all the details! Lots of neat pictures are now available.
11/30/1999, Saturday - Birthday Glitch
(age: 3 years, 0 months, 10 days)
Well, we gave Christopher a small bike for his birthday, but he doesn't like it. I think we'll have to take
it back. When I try to teach him how to ride it, he refuses saying "I need to practice more".
I don't know what the problem is, but maybe we need to start with a trike or something. (Bike mystery solved!
See his next February journal)
